Mod's move this if need be, But I was called to this company as they where reporting of slow network speeds when I saw this i knew why and when i stopped laughing i took this snap.

Yea it's doing the job slowly but what's the point of a network cab then install one of them Switch/Hub's...... lol

What spend £80 - £100 on the CAB then £4.99 on the switch?

Well to be fair the cab and patch panel was likely there before the current occupiers moved in, presumably with some other gear in there. Obviously the current occupiers don't need any other kit so just used a cheapo switch.

Chinese firm?

No....

Switch is probably closer to £30. It's hard to tell if it's the gigabit version.

Nope 10/100 Model

No they paid for this tobe installed this way, not my company but one man band jobby..... they called us after they could not get hold of the guy that installed it all....... not 6 weeks previous....

The cabinet looks like it was chosen to accommodate the patch panel. There are smaller cabinets you could use, but you wouldn’t save much on the cost.

Even if they used a cut down patch panel they’d have needed something to house it in, and then you’d be into non-standard cabinet sizes.

LOL that puts some of my cabs to shame! I've got cabs with no electric devices in, just where cat 5s are terminated and another panel takes them to new office.

Can't see why that switch would slow anything down though!!
