Motherboard Problem?

Hello all, so on my journey to building my nas I encountered a problem, long story short I took a gamble and bought a £16 foxconn motherboard from ocuk which arrived last week - I also bought a bitfenix case, however in my haste I didnt check to see is the case and mobo were compatible (micro atx board mini-atx case...rookie mistake eh).
So, same day last week I re-ordered the original board I had planned to get - asus p8h77-i (again from ocuk), which arrived today! :-D.
While waiting I decided to see if I could get the nas setup ready, so I took apart my old pc to install the new components - and everything worked fine with the foxconn board, and has for the last week (freenas however can be a bit tricky but I got ther in the end).
When the new board arrived today it should have been as easy as moving things across to the new board but I've encountered a problem, I have everything setup (minus hard drives) but when I try to power the system on the fans on case and cpu fan start to spin then just stop, it wont post, after dl checking the asus page it looks like my cpu isnt supported until bios 1004 (its a g2030) so decided to pop out mt 2700k from my main rig just to update bios - but im getting the same problem, fan starts to spin but then stopps (doesnt even get a full rotation in)

So anyone have a simple solution or can think of something simple.im.missing? Thanks in advance
 
try clearing the cmos/battery left out for 10 minutes

usually swapping different cpu's esp sandy then an ivy borks the cmos and it loops so try clearing it,can try other things later if it doesn't fix it

tried bare minimum setup? no graphic cards or hdd's/ssd's attached and use onboard graphics? also tested with a different power supply?
 
Il try the cmos battery, and it is a bare min. Setup, its to be used as a nas, Ive no gpu, and d/c hdds until I can.get to.bios screen, no ive only tested with this psu, was working up to today when I powered it off, but I do have a spare psu if needed,.il tey the battery and.post back in 10-15
 
I would check the cpu socket carefully for any bent pins even slightly bent will cause it to loop,take care when checking as they are easily damaged
 
Righty-o - and if I do encounter bent pins how screwed am I, Any way to push them back into place? Or am I safer returning it and no taking the chance of casuing more damage (the latter I think lol)
 
I would try and return the board first

they can be bent back into place if your carefull with a tiny sewing needle,but mess too much and they can snap off without warning,then the boards no good esp with asus as they wont repair it
 
So battery removal didnt work, nor did the second psu - havnt checkd for bent pins yet, anything else it could be before hand? Ive also tried a different ram modual (from my main rig)

Edit: so I checked for bent pins and have to say thankfully their all in place, havnt a notion whats going on here, transferred all the components back to the foxconn board and everything is working fine, so it looks like a dodgey mobo, guess theirs always that chance when going b-grade eh lol)
