Motion Sickness / Nausea - Thread

I have it most days without even doing anything,
I'm guessing I have inner ear issues. Anything over the counter I can try ?

I get it on bumpy coach trips and when I am trying to read or work on the trains. I end up closing my eyes and resting for about 15-25 minutes and then I feel brand new again.

I really want to know how to cure it, I could be a lot more productive while I travel..

The worst motion sickness I've had was as a passenger at the Nurburgring. Didn't chuck but got quite queasy! I'm scared as hell of vomiting anyway, so I get a panic attack if I start feeling sick.

That's known as Emetophobia. It's something I've battled with for years myself.
It can cause you to be lead quite a restrictive life if you let it take hold.

There's a self-help book which is supposed to work which I'm reading through. All sounds fairly logical and research appears to back up the claims. I'd link it but it's on a competitor site. The title is "Cure Your Emetophobia and Thrive".

Thanks, I'll have a look. You're telling me though, sometimes I'm too scared to sit too far away from a door incase I need to get out of somewhere to puke. I'd been perfectly fine for years but it came back again last November when I was ill with food poisoning, and I've basically felt nauseous every day, sometimes for hours on end, basically on the verge of being sick because I'm so scared that I'll actually be sick.

I suffered horrendously a couple of years back and I'm never going on a boat ever again.

It was at Isles of Scilly (St. Mary's) and we'd paid to go on a shark fishing trip.

The journey out (probably 1 hour) was Ok, but once the boat was stationary and swishing about all over the place in the waves that was it.

Pretty much 3 hours of constant puking and dizziness whilst they fished for bait and then sharks.

The worst day imaginable. The relief of getting off that boat.

At least they caught a shark but I had no interest in taking a look.

I can't play FPS which is :( yet :) because it means I haven't wasted a lot of time.

Even third person games where you move the camera cause it, like Assassins Creed. Never used to get it on the old third person shooters where the camera was fixed but this form of game seems to have faded out. Strangely I'm not so bad with GTA, providing the camera is fairly still.

From what I've tried VR isn't so bad but I've only used it for a few minutes... really hope I can get on with it!

I can't prove it, but I half suspect that my problem with FPS games is related to LCD screens.

I used to play classic UT on a CRT for hours on end without any issues.
Since making the switch to LCD I haven't been able to play a FPS since. No even high refresh and G-Sync have helped.

Put it on and try it out..
