Moto X Force

I knew it had a coating of some sort, just couldn't remember how much. I remove it from my person if I think there may be a risk of it going splosh, but always been concerned while using it in the rain.

For those phones with an actual IP rating have they solved the issue of rain droplets messing with the touch screen? Just out of curiosity.

used to use a Razr i that had the same coating of the current models. I was working down a beck side that was in full flood and the bank gave way plunging me in. Went in over the waist in freezing water with phone in trouser pocket. When I eventually got scrambled out the Razr i was well and truly wet. Anyway, it took no harm and worked as normal.

I use a Moto X Style which has a smaller battery and a bigger screen. I have no probs getting through every day and never concern myself about it. I have an outdoors job in the field in agriculture and the moto has taken no fault. Maybe lucky mind as doubt that 5.7" screen is as fragile as any. Interesting to see what Motorola come up with next. Not right sure I want another phone so big and think next one will have to be a little smaller.

How do you X Force owners go on with the display on bright sunny days? Some reviews say it isn't very bright?

Lovely sized battery, everything looks good... No stereo speakers!
When will I get a phone for decent price with both stereo speakers, 5.5 in and huge battery!

I really don't get the stereo speaker thing. They'll be, what, 13cm apart if one at top and one of bottom of the screen?

My old phone had a single speaker at the bottom. Watch a YouTube and it sounds worse than speaker on the back!

Most of these little phone speakers are never going to be a great event. Wouldn't have killed them to give the Force stereo speakers though.

Moto seem to cripple every phone they make these days. The Play doesn't have the sensors to 'wave to wake' but has a big battery. The Style has the wave to wake and stereo speakers but gets a smaller battery and of course the Force doesn't get the speakers. Cripple might be a bit harsh but I think you buy one of their phones and then think 'maybe I should have bought the other model' :p

That Force review is good. I like the amoled display when I had a look at one at Carphone but compared to the Style seemed quite dim on max brightness. This was under shop lights. Had the 2014 Moto X and found it not so good to see in bright sunshine. OK if you shaded it.

Next Moto X should maybe be based on the the Style and include the shatter proof display. It also should maybe be amoled and be bright and sharp like the Samsung displays. Also in the size range 5.2 to 5.5 inches Meanwhile back in the real world....... :D

I found the phone a bit too big to be honest, and some posters in this thread made me worry about the green line appearing on peoples screens and as I noticed it went back up to £500 so I managed to sell it on gumtree for £300.

Finally got the phone.

Any tips for getting rid of the google search bar? I also can't seem to get the UI thing to show to access battery percentage, and need to figure out a way for the menu to allow different pages instead of bunging things in alphabetically.

I'm actually finding stock android quite fustrating and making me miss my LG for functionality.

You can use Nova Launcher to get rid of the persistent search bar and will allow you to add folders/pages to the app draw. Not sure about the battery thing?

Created an other thread ranting away :P

I'm reluctant. I feel like it's almost buying a car, then having to pay more for standard equipment and changing the paint colour and wheels when I could get what I want in the first place.

I need to set it up more over the weekend, but I'm dubious about it lasting long in my owndership.

I'm getting a sporadic pink line that appears on the left hand side of the screen. Very thin line, but there nonetheless.

First time it appeared, a quick turn off/on again and it had gone. Didn't return for a week or so.

Second time, turn off/on and no difference, but pressure on the left speaker removed the line.

Third time, a few minutes after the second time, and much more pressure needed to remove the line.

Anyone else having this? I've seen lots of threads on the Motorola forums about the Droid Turbo 2 (the same phone, but for Verizon) about a green line responding in similar ways to pressure on the left speaker. None pink though. No link to dropping or damage it seems (despite what Verizon first claimed), just seems to be a fault in the screens used.

Anyone here having similar problems?

No problems here but I'd get it sent back as it's not the sort of problem that'll get any better the longer you leave it.

My Moto X Style developed a lot of grey lines running vertically down the display a couple of weeks ago. I thought for sure it'd be hardware and would have to tangle with Motorola support. Thankfully a couple of reboots cleared it. The first reboot didn't.

Probably best to contact Motorola support direct. Dealing with those carphone idiots best avoided and they'll only send it back to Moto anyway.
