Motorcycle tyres

TBH I think a lot of rubbish is talked on tyres, not looking at anyone in particular here but there's a definate correlation of sticky tyres and the size of chicken strips :D

Maybe :), im not a cornering / knee down god by a VERY long way but can tell the difference between a good tyre and a bad one, it's nice not having tyres stepping out on you... and best to have the best tyre you can afford without losing to much milage ability. Highside most scary thing in the whole world, though even best tyres in world won't stop this :(

moving from some michelin pilot sports that came on me bike to 2cts was night and day.. just inspire so much confidence, especially in wet

i'm one of these common breed who just cant get the last bit of chicken strip away.. got about 1cm left and it just won't go, but don't really care tbh.. seen a lot worse and aint gonna risk my life playing gp hero too much ;) (all down to size of kahoonas I guess)

it's entirely possible to hang off bike like a monkey with sparks showering and still have strips :)

Yep, I can't disagree with that. Mine wears supercorsas on track and stradas on the road, and the supercorsas inspire much more faith, they just feel constantly more planted. The stradas do everything I want them to do but they don't always feel like they're going to :D Sometimes it's not what they do, it's how they do it... I've learned to trust the Stradas to get on with the job but it did take time, whereas the supercorsas just revel in it. Ah but then again, sometimes inspiring confidence is bad news, you just end up crashing faster ;)

But still, I could probably do just about everything I do on the SCs on the Stradas, if I just had the balls :D

All about Pirelli Diablo Corsas!
Please don't pay them prices for tyres either, get em off Eblag, chances are they are off the back of a lorry but who cares! Got my 180/55ZR17 corsa for £65 posted!

I'm of this variety too, I like to look at my chicken strips and think "I'm happy with that", even though there is probably around 2cms or so on either side! Just don't really care, though it's always nice to have a look at them to see how they are coming along from time to time...

I'll upload a few pictures later after a night out on Monday flying around some roundabouts in Ballymena - they are still there heh!

It's all a bit silly, the chickenstrip thing. If you don't hang off the bike, or if you counterlean like a CBT pass, you have to lean the bike further so you get small chicken strips while going slower... Or, if you fit, say, BT020s you hit the edge in no time, but fit most pirellis and the edge of the tyre is so sloped off some bikes can't use it, you scrape hard parts first. It's just another daft pub bore bike conversation. IMO :D Huge ones tell you someone doesn't corner fast but small ones tell you nothing I think

No chicken strips on my rear and prob less than 1cm left on my front, but the front is all rippled from hard cornering *whistle* :p and im not pushing anymore than I do already on the road lol, only on track I think ill get rid of the remaining strip :p

ta northwind. Will there d220s just end me if i get some lean on? I'm not even thinking strips yet! Heh

Is it your first big bike? They're not terrible... Just old school. But they won't let you get away with stuff that modern tyres will, they're slow to heat up and not all that grippy. You can lean a lot on them, but you have to be a bit gentle, ie lean in slowly not throw it in.

I really don't like them tbh, but my mate Colin still has them on his SV and he's not slow at all, he gets on fine with them. I think they'd punish my sloppy riding :D

Gotchya, not so concerned now but look forward to trying out gooduns after though!
And oui it will be first bike.

as was hinted to earlier on, I think it's all about how you "feel" on the boots that you've got... find a set that feel good and you'll probably stick with them (ho ho ho)

No they'll be fine, just not quite upto to current rubber. The SV isn't exactly a 150 bhp monster so don't worry about it. I used to grind lumps out of my footpegs on my old Bros 400, that was running on bias rubber :D.

Aye, exactly. I take good tyres for granted, so I really dislike the D220s- not about power, they don't like fast corner entries or other direction changes (roundabout exits!)- but it's all relative.

I may look at picking up a speedo healer at some point then, would be nice to have a more accurate indication of speed :)

I had a fantastic ride tonight, bit naughty going out on the BT014s, but I spent most of the time leaning, and have plenty of tread there :D

Getting more confident (although not overly) on position when leaning off, I'd love to see how far away my knee is from the deck, feels close...

Scort.

prolly not worth speedohealer unless your changing gearing as they quite a lot of money. also calibrating it is quite tough as holding steady 100 while trying to read a gps is pretty difficult :)
