Motorola Moto G - new budget smartphone champion?

Just buy a new one and sell the old one on ebay. Some clown will probably pay you £60 for it. They go mad for broken tech on there.

i saw a 16gb with a smashed screen for 50 quid on amazon and was tempted considering the screen is intact on my broken one, but then it *could* still be screwed too so didn't take the risk.

but aye, i might as well sell the scrap and recoup some of the loss

e: check out this for multiple lols

Over past few days been really considering selling my Note 3 & just sticking with my Moto G.

Due to the size of the Note 3 i very rarely take it out with me whereas the Moto G comes everywhere because of it size & it does everything i need it to do.

Got to the point now where having the latest & greatest high end smartphone isn't a priority anymore, as i don't game or watch movies on my phones, just listen to a few selected MP3's and the other usual stuff like talk & message & abit of social media.

The Moto G does all this just fine.

It does make you question the wisdom of spending 5 times as much on the latest high end phone!

Screen size is a strange one. when I had a couple of 3.5" iphones, I always wanted a bigger screen. Then I had an S3 and it seemed great for about a year before I started thinking it was too big. Then I had a moto G, Even though its only slightly smaller, it is much nicer to use. Then I start looking at people with iphone 5/5S and thinking what a good size that would be, especially as most of the things I use the phone for are app based rather than full on web page or video. But then I see (mainly women) with a note 2/3 and think how good is that:o

Got the 16Gb one delivered just now, but upon inspection I found what I can only describe as an air bubble within the screen!
Quickly called and asked for a replacement as I like the phone.

It can be seen when the screen is on and off(can you see it? near the top middle of the screen)

I had a wifi auth error the other day i was wondering how to fix it but changing the password didnt work but i found changing the name of the access point did make it work. Just thought id bring it up incase anyone has the same issue and lookin for a quick fix. Well, maybe fix it depends if its the same issue.

Mine has WiFi with issues quite a bit. Restarting the WiFi hotspot tends to work. Annoying though because my n7 doesn't have the same problem.

Did I read someone in this thread had a water damaged Moto G?
There are lots of youtube videos with the moto G taking an extended dip in a sink/bath and come out unscathed after an hour. Are they fake?

I didn't feel like bringing this up considering the 'discussion' I had with the person posting on the forum who mentioned the videos... I wonder who gave the more correct information.... I said it could be used in normal rain (ie water repellent as advertised), the person posting about the youtube video was adamant the phone was waterproof because of the youtube videos, clearly it's not based on the posts a little higher... :o

Basically the youtube video's show it being dunked and continue to work during the video, there is nothing to say if it continued to work after the videos. The full discussion is around page 7 in this thread...

Just got one of these for the wife. Ok so its only 8gb and no sd card but what a cracking phone for £100. She loves it, moving from a Lumia 800. So many more apps to choose from and much easier interface for music etc. I reckon I might even seriously consider one of these or next years model when my S3 packs up.

Went for an 8gb as I thought it would be a temporary phone as my S3 was replaced.
S3 won't be replaced, and I'm super happy with the Moto G.
Apart from I've run out of space. Disaster.

Just in case anyone is US based or calls the US a lot - the Moto G is now available on Republic Wireless for $150 (8GB) and $180 (16GB).

https://republicwireless.com/phones/moto-g

Uses WiFi for calls (and the Sprint network when no WiFi), so you could bring it back to the UK and have unlimited calls and texts via WiFi to the US for only $5 per month - with a legit US cell phone number, rather than Skype etc.

And a new Moto G to play with, of course :)

Can anyone help…

1) I unlocked the phone using android tools and Motorola website code
2) I installed colockworkmod recovery tool
3) I installed “cm-11-20140405-SNAPSHOT-M5-falcon.zip” and gapps for kit-kat
4) The phone is stuck in a bootloop at Cyanogenmod startup.
5) I have deleted the “partition cache” done “factory reset / user data” and “Delvik cache” but it still just loops.

Anyone got any ideas what I should try next? To be honest I would be happy to go back to the stock firmware…
