Motorola Moto G - new budget smartphone champion?

Does anyone know if I can get a genuine new battery for the original 2013 moto g? Mine is getting noticeably worse and when it gets to about indicated 15% battery it completely turns off.

Other than that still runs great and I think I'm happy to use it for another year.

My GPE converted moto g recieved the stagefright patch last week btw.

Has anyone with a 2014 Moto G received the Stagefright patch?

Apparently it has been soak tested from what I can gather on Moto and XDA forums, but so has 5.1 (or 5.1.1), so anytime now?

Have not got it here either, still 5.0.2

Getting bored of waiting with my 2014, if it's much longer then I'm considering moving to a Wileyfox when they are released.

Still even at that price it's not amazing value for money imo, I bought a Moto G 1st Gen for £139 when it first came out and that was for the 16gb version (I'm sure you could get it for £129), 8gb is unusable for a 'smartphone' imo, and also 1gb ram in this day and age for that price is a joke.

on the + side, those phones dont break easily

I can attest to this. Dropped mine out of trees countless times, off a zip wire and (probably the worst) from the bonnet of a Land rover defender onto tarmac.

The black plastic around the screen is fairly dented but that just provides more grip - which evidently I need!

Got an update on my 2nd gen 4G this morning,

Didn't read the release notes properly bit mentioned Stagefright, and also mentioned 5.1.

Installed but still only 5.0.2, so I guess was only a "preparation for 5.1" or something - update was around 20Mb.

So much for Moto timely updates - Load of marketing tosh.

Got my 5.1 update over OTA today on 1st gen moto g. Finally! Its a tesco version incase anyone was going to ask. Came out of the blue as I noticed in notifications about a system update. Was about 200 mb or so.

Mine popped up today! Had some problems with 5.1 on my nexus 7 so in two minds about installing it.

Apparently Marshmallow is good though. Along with the 8GB of storage on the original moto G it might be time to jump ship...

Got 5.1 on mine too. 2nd Gen 4G I think, but it's just a phone I take for granted (which is basically what I require).

Seems OK so far - not spotted any difference...

I updated yesterday. Can't really tell the difference between 5.1 and 5.0.2 but I never had issues with 5.0.2.

The 16gb of storage is a little annoying on mine as I use it for Spotify and downloaded songs take up a lot of space.

I found my 1st gen slower since the 5.0.2 Lollipop upgrade. For example, hit the phone icon and it take a good second or more for the phone to react. It never used to be like that. One second sounds small but it isn't really, it gives the impression of a slow laggy phone. The 5.1 is a definite improvement - that lag has gone and it now responds pretty much instantly as it did before, althought it can vary depending what else is going on with the phone.

since updating to 5.1 my battery life has become awful, talking 6-8hours standby before its 0%. Anyone else have this problem?
