He’s got 150k views from it. That could be £50 in his pocket. It’s very sad and it’s not something I’d do, but there are people with no lives who get a big kick out of YouTube view counts and pocket money.

Enter the coolest, best modern 911 I've seen. Just the best bits of everything, that engine sound on startup and rev, the sounds from that gearbox linkage.... The 911 R seems pointless by comparison

I found that weirdly interesting. I go to Goodwood etc and it becomes almost normal to see a F1 or 30 million pound Ferrari but some of the cars there must be so unique and not been seen on the roads for decades yet I can remember them from my childhood when they were plentiful and new.
London has genuinely ruined supercars for me. On my daily commute I ride past a Ferrari showroom, a Lambo showroom which is also a Maserati dealer, I see exotic metal every single day on the roads and quite often I'll catch something interesting being unloaded from a trailer and moved in to a back alley garage, I suspect this is some billionaire who has a collection somewhere who then has his cars delivered for weekends. I've seen both a Bugatti type 35 and a genuine Bentley Blower being unloaded at the same place as well as a few other interesting rides. I don't even notice the G-wagens anymore, common as pigeons. I recently saw a Brabus G which piqued my interest briefly as it was about 30ft tall 
I don't even look twice at Mclarens, Lambos or Ferraris anymore, honestly they're as common as Ubers where I work.
Shame really, I used to love supercars and hypercars, when I first moved to London I was like a kid in a candy shop but after 17 years they do nothing for me.

Was just about to post this. That McMurtry is unreal off the start and looks epic with the fan rooster-tailing all the dust.

Great story but clearly the only reason he bought it was to use it to publicize his pig ugly Grenadier. Then again so many people love the new LR, I as surprised they arent falling over themselves on the Grenadier as well. Its a toss up for me as to which is the ugliest. Maybe a three way tie with the G wagon.
ANyway would love to know how much he paid for it under sealed bid. I bet it was 6 figures
