The V8 Car of the Future which was introduced last year uses a lot of control parts to keeps costs down, similar to NGTC. As I understand it the chassis & cage, rear suspension, driveline, electronics etc are all standard control parts. Body styles can be adapted to fit the standard wheelbase and track.
GRM were running Holdens last year. To vastly simplify it they've basically taken last years Holden, hung new body panels off it and installed a Polestar developed V8 based on the one used in the XC90.
