F1 funds F1... but, if you take away the profit from F1 related activities the circuit will suffer

But as the article details, there is no profit to be had from F1 related activities. All the money made from hosting an F1 race barely covers the cost of hosting it.

Circuits don't make money from hosting F1.

There are quite a few circuits and GP's bankrolled by governments. Malaysia, Singapore, China, Russia, Azerbaijan and previous Korean and Indian GP's spring to mind.

There was nothing remotely close to equal distribution of money in the Spanish league, not even a portion of it.

In the EPL they have 50% of the tv money is equally shared, then say 25% a piece for position in the table and amount of games broadcast. So the bottom team already gets 50-60mil and the top teams get 90 odd mil.

F1 already has that, the main bulk of the prize money comes from the prize money pool in which all teams down to 10th get a equal share of 40mil, the another pool which is broken up by position in the constructors. There are also additional payments for historical teams and the like which afaik come out of another pool entirely.

F1 can already establish that it has a broadly similar pattern to say the premier league which is regarded as one of if not the fairest football leagues in the world, where Spain was maybe the worst and least unfair. That was my point, the Spanish league will be moving to something akin to F1 payouts because F1 is already FAR more fair than most sports.

Renault are currently today saying to anyone that will listen that without historical payments as the other manufacturers get they would pull out of the sport. No need to be overly dramatic with demanding stats when it's pretty common knowledge and easily provable.

Mercedes/Ferrari/Renault go to court and say, yeah, we'd totally have left if we didn't get extra payments to fund engine development. More to the point where do you think the sport would be yourself if Ferrari, Merc, Renault all left? Stock car series with no big sponsors, everyone on the same engine, very little technical development from the engine side as no one could afford to develop a new technologically advanced engine. Without the big budget teams the sport would be dead.

The only wholly ridiculous part of the sport is that teams below 10th get a whole 10mil from the prize fund, that may be an enforced change if they went to court, but that is something they need to address anyway.
