There's nothing wrong with the power in these engines.
In other news, Manor are undergoing their annual brink of administration crisis http://www.skysports.com/f1/news/12433/10719428/manor-f1-team-on-brink-of-financial-collapse

"Adrian Newey has criticised Formula One's move to hybrid engines, saying it was simply "marketing blurb" which will not benefit actual road products as it was supposed to"

http://www.espn.co.uk/f1/story/_/id/18393859/f1-hybrid-engines-just-marketing-blurb-adrian-newey

Other team heads don't like them. And most petrol heads hate them.

I hope Manor carry on racing. Silverstone may not have a race after 2019. F1 is broken from when it was most watched in 2008.

What's that got to do with insufficient power, or are you just looking to quote as many people as possible who agree with your point of view?

This isn't the 1970s or 1980s. F1 doesn't exist to further road car development. Half the grid have no stake in car manufacturing.

"They want to have noisy, powerful engines that can be managed only by the best drivers in the world. You don't put orthopedic shoes onto your pro football players, do you, just because these kinds of shoes are popular in everyday life?"

Bernie has nailed it for me. Talks for the new 2020 engines will start soon. I hope we go back to V8-10-12

What a load of rubbish. Firstly noise? really? Yeah lots go back to screaming NA engines where everyone has to wear ear protectors. Noise was important back in the day, especially when different engines were allowed. The noise of the recent v8's or v10's was just noise, there wasn't anything nice about it. The noise of the hybrids is, I will admit, muted but at least there is something interesting about it.

Secondly, powerful? you mean the hybrid engines that produce as much power as any of the NA engines but a huge amount more torque? but yeah sure lets go back to non hybrid engines that are easier to drive.

Finally, what a terrible anology. Pro footballers should have the best football boots available using modern technology and materials. F1 is (or at least was) the pinnacle of motorsport and should use modern technology to go faster. Whether or not it directly has an impact on road cars is irrelevant, F1 hasn't for a number of years and most of the grid don't even make road cars. The pinnacle of engine technology currently is hybrids and it is right F1 should be using them too.

About the only bit of the interview I can agree with is that the F1 rule book is too complicated.

Look's like the British GP at Silverstone may be in doubt again according to this article. Bernie says that two other tracks have shown a interest in hosting the race. Please not Donington!! The European GP they held there was mind numbingly boring. Touring cars and bikes go best there, not F1. I guess the other place could be Brands Hatch?

Personally I don't believe a word Bernie has said about the British GP. The 'two other tracks' can only be BH and Donington. Neither are up to scratch and both are a long, long way from being F1 grade. Let's hope Liberty Media are good on their intent to keep the classic European rounds. Hopefully their takeover will be complete in the next few months.

There's no other track in the UK remotely in a position to host the British Grand Prix. Bernie will be banging on about his favourite pie in the sky London street race before long no doubt.

Be interesting to see how this one pans out as it's the BRDC calling Bernies bluff for once rather than him being the one to threaten them with losing the race they're saying to him they don't want it (at the current terms).

If Silverstone can't make a profit when they've got 130,000+ paying punters dropping between £50 and about £500 for the weekend then that just shows the ridiculous price F1 is charging to host the race (which increases at 5% per year)

Brands could never hold the GP - nowhere near enough run off at the back of the circuit and the housing estate on the other side of the fence would be a problem in extending it. Moreover, the pits are inside the Indy circuit - this entire system would have to be changed to an external pitlane.

Lastly, the changes required would probably mean reprofiling many of the corners, particularly round the back of the circuit, losing its character. So no thanks.

Donington is feasible, but if Silverstone is lacking the funds, Donington definitely wouldn't be able to afford it.

The track with the best chance of taking over if required would be the Circuit of Wales if it ever actually gets built, but even that's only been designed with the F1 testing grade in mind rather than full F1 race grade.

As MissChief says though, Bernie's almost certainly talking rubbish. As always.

Damon Hill calling on the government to help Silverstone.

He needs to shut his pie hole tbh. The public will never stand for taxpayers money being used to prop up the British GP when Formula 1 is worth billions and frankly I agree with them.

I really can't stand Hill at all. Average driver who was lucky to win a title, now he wants to be a pundit but just spouts rubbish all the time and states the blindingly obvious, now he wants public money for the British GP when ticket prices are already outrageous.
