In other news, some nonsense around Fiilipe Massa and potential court action over the 2008 title. Seems it's based on Bernie crawled out of the woodwork and saying some nonsense.

Bernie's really sore about Hamilton matching Schumi's record, isn't he?

Even if we take this seriously, I cannot imagine they'd have cancelled the result of the Singapore GP if they'd known. It's much more likely they'd have disqualified Renault and potentially stripped all points from Alonso and Piquet. That'd have helped Lewis not Massa. I don't begrudge Massa trying it, but it's not going anywhere.

Just opens up a massive Pandoras Box

People will then (and are) argue 2021, 1994
Where does it then end?

That's like adding some blame to Lewis for McLaren stealing Ferrari technical data.
Not really. That could have been done easily without a driver knowing. For Alonso to be told to pit, you'd imagine most strategy calls are discussed beforehand or explained to the driver in some form. Maybe they told him some BS, or maybe he knew about the whole thing. The more I find out about Alonso the more I realise how shady he actually is :p

If they were unwilling to consider a change to the result of 2021 at the time and when it was their own mistake. Why would anyone think they’d change the result from 15 years ago when it was a team in the wrong.

Though it is strange to not have punished the team at the time if they genuinely did know back then.

Wasn't it Piquet jnr who told the fia as Piquet snr told him to. Personally I would put 90% of it on flavio maybe some on Alonso.
Symonds is just weak willed
Flavio was also Piquet Jr's manager/agent and apparently routinely threatened him with replacement at Benetton throughout the season. As to who originally suggested a deliberate crash I'm not sure we'll ever really know. Having said that it was discussed between Piquet (Jr and Snr), Flavio and Symonds, even to the point of where to actually crash knowing how far away the marshal stations and cranes were to give the biggest chance of a Safety car. I find it doubtful that Alonso was completely ignorant of it.

Yeah I can't see how that would help Massa to be honest, I guess if they 'null' the points it means Lewis wouldn't have got his 6, and Massa's would have been the same as he didn't get any in that race?

If they open that up for deliberation then Lewis would undoubtably get the 2021 crown, although according to Norris this week he already won his 8th :D

IIRC wasn't that the race Massa drove away with the refuelling rig still attached to his car? I think his reasoning is that Piquet Jr's crash effected the outcome of the race so the whole thing should be null and void

I miss refuelling actually. The time Schumacher did a 4 stopper and slapped in qualifying lap after qualifying lap.

I am not a fan of Lewis but they did everything they could to hand over the title to Massa by giving him penalties left right and centre. A bit like Schumacher in 1994. Hill had no right to challenge him regardless of the final race.

If this went through it would open up a whole can of worms. Prost would come out of the woodwork claiming 1990 as another one.

No team dynamics in btcc this year. Big loss for the series, although they've been on the decline in the last few years, been an integral part of the championship for so long!

Huge loss, sounds like they were struggling for sponsors, they've not had the most successful last few years.
I still remember watching Neal taking the first outright race win for an Independent back in '99 - that Red Primera was stunning!

Not really, didn't Pedro de la Rosa and Alonso threaten Ron in some way?
Maybe Ham did know about it, in some capacity, like a lot of other people in the team.
Mind you wasn't it spotted by someone using a photocopier in Woking town centre so maybe it didn't stretch too far,
The 100mil fine was part of a long standing grudge Max Moseley had.

Was flavio in charge when the dodgy fuel valve sent the pits up in flames and when they had the hidden traction control?

I believe they lost Dan Rowbottom and his cataclean money over the winter and more recently Halfords.

Craig Breedlove, the first man over 500mph and 600mph on land, has passed away. He was 86 years old.

Breedlove held the Land Speed Record five times. The first three records he set were originally unofficial ones, as the rules at the time specified that the vehicle had to have four wheels and at least one axle had to be engine-driven (his first 'car' only had three wheels, and none of his record breakers were wheel-driven). But the rules confusion was sorted out at the end of '64 and retroactively applied.

He last held the record up to October 23rd 1970 when Gary Gabelich beat his 600.601mph mark. But he had several goes at regaining the record over the years. There's a great BBC documentary about the ThrustSSC record that shows a bit of Breedlove's competing attempt. Still, only three guys have ever been quicker - Gabelich, Richard Noble and Andy Green.
