Some crazy Lewis Hamilton to Ferrari for 2025 rumours kicking off this morning.

Will Buxton teasing that F1 is braced for a "big announcement" before the week is over and hinting at "silly season" - and there seems to be a truckload of other reports this morning.

Have we ever had silly season start before the actual race season before ?

About time Ferrari actually signed a decent driver. Their current line-up is the worst it has been the past 30 years imo

???

Comfortably the best they've had since Schumacher left, I'd say, although I can see an argument for Alonso/Massa I can't see any decent argument that Leclerc/Sainz is worse than Vettel/Räikkönen given our easily Leclerc outclassed Vettel.

I embrace the shake up! I think we need it. I'm surprised Lewis did not synchronize with the start of the 2026 season with major rule changes and completely new cars again. Perhaps - like when he moved from Mclaren to Merc - he knows something we don't about the strength of the Ferrari 2026 car. Or...hopefully 2025 will be the year all other teams have caught up with Redbull in this reg period being the last year of it, and Lewis and Leclerc can challenge Max properly.

Needs a year inside the team to build the new car around him for 26.

Alonso dragged that PoS 2014 Ferrari into positions it didn't deserve.

I'm still hoping for a Leclerc WDC - he definitely has the potential.

I'll believe it when an official announcement is made. Sounds more like rumours released to aid contract negotiations.
Holy crap

Yeah, but Massa drags the pairing down compared to Sainz, imo.

Quickest driver on the grid in raw pace, I think, but lacks the all round performance... for now.

Just rehashing more rumours. Still no official announcement.

Does that practically hand Red Bull the 2024 and 25 season. Neither Hamilton or Sainz are going to be involved in the decision making for for next seasons cars.

Holy crap
That's still just speculation.

"Hamilton's current contract with Mercedes is due to expire at the end of 2025 but he will depart the team after this season and replace Carlos Sainz at Ferrari, Sky Sports News understands."
Nah, its a done deal, the way its being talked about in the media now is almost 100% confirmed
The important word there is 'almost'.

I have no real doubts it's happening but it's still not actually confirmed by the people who matter.

Im a little torn on how well I think he could do relative to Lerclec.

Leclerc is a lot younger and thus you'd expect him to outqualify Hamilton more often than not but for sizeable chunks of last season Sainz outperformed him in race trim... thus one would assume Hamilton would also have similar success. Who knows though, Leclerc is fully embedded within the team, will probably be more used to the way the Ferrari drives and may well have sorted out his inconsistency issues by the time Hamilton arrives.

If he could get a few wins for Ferrari before retiring id consider that a success. I think a championship is pushing it.
