Jack Brabham being the only Formula One driver to win a Drivers' Championship in a car bearing his own name. Some achievement...
 
Question, who was the last driver which actually ran, and owned a team, who also was competing in races, was it Bruce Mclaren?

Graham Hill maybe was the last, in the '70s. Jack Brabham was very successful as an owner-driver in the '60s, Bruce as mentioned, John Surtees as well in the early '70s.
 
The early fight with the Audi was great, plus some crazy back marker overtakes.

Won’t be pleased with the DSQ but probably had way more fun than he’s having in F1. V8’s, no tyre saving, no battery management and super clipping, relatively equal cars. Just foot flat and driver skill.
 
Rather poor to make that sort of error. In a basic way, I would have expected them to split it as two sets per driver and deal with punctures as they come.

Made for some cracking racing in the NLS2 series though.

I saw DC is weighing in on the Aston Martin clown-show, saying he suspects the Alonso/vibration thing is mainly for show, to get Honda fixing stuff.
Feel like too much blood is being diverted to his jawline, than his brain.

Perhaps if the Aston was fighting for podiums or wins, we'd see him risking it all. When the engine is a genuine PoS, with very few upsides, and you're "battling" for the last positions, outside of the points? Come on David... Think about it for one second.

Been a long time since I can remember drivers putting up with extreme vibrations (not porpoising). Kimi Raikkonen with the heavy flat spot maybe? And he didn't have a good time with that.

And 7:32 of that sums up why I don't like these rules - there is no longer any benefit to a driver giving their everything and pushing the car to the limit - it's now a case of managing your deployment and ensuring you don't get earlier sections of the lap wrong, otherwise you have no energy left.
 
Watching some videos their pit was always surrounded by a lot of people, wonder if that let to the error.

I read it was done earlier in the event during practice and qualifying. They were practicing driver swaps and pit stops.

They accidently introduced an extra set of tyres whilst doing that onto rims. These tyres will be scanned via barcode/QR code on the sidewalls by the organisers.

During the race they will scan the sets coming off the car and I imagine when it flagged they've used 7 sets that would tell the organisers to DSQ.

Only know from when I used to race ages ago I had to get my kart tyres barcodes scanned at scruiteneering as we could only use 1 set per weekend, plus a spare set for punctures which also got scanned which had similar wear.

If a barcode got scanned that wasnt in your allocation, it was a DSQ.
