Mountain Biking

Im just starting to improve my jumping also, Theres a decent sized table on my trail.. you can get some serious speed on it to the point u over jump the landing bit poorly designed. Im just going slow at it atm to improve my technique i guess.. I get days where i feel like il hit it hard but as its a steepish takeover i kinda fear block at the higher speed. I suppose i just have to man up one time and hit it! Its a weird one because smaller humps and lips etc i always take off them.

I hate them jumps at FOD from the uplift, I find them awkward, short and steep. Gotta watch your bike setup as well really, dont want it stiff and fast rebound as it will pogo you off and you dont want it too soft where it sucks all your speed either. Also relaxing and body position is key when jumping. Ill happily spend a couple of hours with you up BPW if anyone wants.

My entire philosophy with jumps is simply not to do them unless they're really small.

Drop offs I'm ok with so long as they're not massive, small jumps good, big jumps bad.

I just can't afford to mash my leg/arm/shoulder/other body parts up - I'm 44 yrs old and therefore take an age to heal & actually staying alive is one of my personal objectives in life. I'm happy to hurtle down rocky/stoney paths at 25/30mph, but big jumps can just **** right off! :D

I'll take you up on that some time! Would be good to do a south west-ish meet up :) Shame the uplift is always so busy meaning having to plan so far ahead :(

Need to do some more of the downhill routes at FOD, last few times we've only really done the loops and a quick run or two of Launchpad. Imagine Launchpad is a good one to practise jumping on with it being quite open and smooth. :)

I am hopefully going BPW for the first time in June, cant wait man! It looks amazing!

Mint sunny ride today on the marin trail also!

For me it was pretty much a case of going into it not concentrating properly. A lesson learned about warming up mentally as well as physically, I go and do the Verderers descent first now! Admittedly it wasn't in great condition as a table, I kind of endo'd along the top of it but then a stupid lip on the end before the downslope finished me off. It doesn't really look like much, but when you add height of table + bike + me it was reasonably long way to fall. Anyway, all my own dumb fault and the amount of physio work it's required has been pretty annoying.

I'm looking for a decent mtb to use for deliveroo work, and off road, hiking places with!
About £300 range, would be nice if its as light as possible, and decent for up-hills if possible aswell, if any deals going on

I'll try and forget clearing a jump at BPW with the front wheel, clipping the top with my back and going over my handlebars and breaking a rib :D lol. I do get the point though!

What tabletops are you trying to do at BPW? i.e. on which trail? I can't think of any which are suitable starter ones that's all, but I'm no expert on all of the lines.

Get you over the dai hard road gap in no time!

I rode it. I bought the T-shirt. I chickened out of doing the road gap. (Lack of full face and body armour may have been a contributory factor!)

A decent mountain bike for £300 simply does not exist. Its Like asking for a decent car for £1000.

Up your budget to around £700 and you should find something to do the job.

A470 is the main one that comes to mind. Sure I've gone over tabletops on other runs but that's definitely the main culprit!

Anyone ridden Snowdon? I'm meant to be doing it this weekend on saturday, however the weather looks like it's going to put a stop to that - Sunday looks more promising.
How killer was the walk/cycle up?

My fat self would also take you up on that... I've always wanted to go to BPW

So bored last night I ordered some extra light tubes (I cba'd with tubeless hassles, don't even have a decent pump either) to save 120g per wheel.

I think I've just got onto the weight saving slippery slope. I'll be looking at carbon cage bottle holders next. :(

Ive done Snowdon 3 times and I was going to also ride it on Saturday but as you know, it's snow and ice covered pretty bad up top.

We always do the Llanberis path up and the Ranger path down.
It's possible to ride 2/3 up without pushing but then it gets scramble steep for a while so pushing is the only option.

We are riding Coed-Y-Brenin, The Beast and Penmachno instead
