Mountain Biking

At work bored today, finally caved and rang up my LBS, asked him to order me in a set of Hope Tech 3 V4's in black with braided cables, been wanting a set for years, my zee's work great, absolutely nothing wrong with them, but i just couldnt help myself...
I think i have a problem...

Ive done Snowdon 3 times and I was going to also ride it on Saturday but as you know, it's snow and ice covered pretty bad up top.

We always do the Llanberis path up and the Ranger path down.
It's possible to ride 2/3 up without pushing but then it gets scramble steep for a while so pushing is the only option.

Link to my Strava Snowdon ride last year : https://www.strava.com/activities/272566352

We are riding Coed-Y-Brenin, The Beast and Penmachno instead

You reckon it'll be rideable Sunday based on your experience?

Will you really notice a difference?

Bloody expensive breaks them!

I ****** hope so...

See what i did there...:p

I've missed the lever feel of hopes since i got rid of my DH bike last year, I had M4's on that, so yeah I'll notice the difference, as for all out breaking power, well we'll see.
The Zee's will eventually end up on the trail bike when Cotic get some 26" BFE frames back in stock, so i'd have eventually had to buy new brakes anyway.

And that is also how I justify every bike purchase ever. "Well I'll use these bits to re-built my hardtail".

What cotic? Hardtail, or Rocket?

ah man the rocket - was talking to the company owner dude in front of one at the london bike show, and its proper nice, would swap the banshee for one if i could (and i like my banshee a lot!)

I'm after a 26" BFE Hardtail frame, but out of stock at the moment.
Will still need to buy drivetrain, most likely just go for M8000 XT groupset bundle, but i'll wait for the frames to come back in stock before i fork out for that.

The banshee! That's bold. Never seen any cotic in the flesh. :(

New SLX 1x11 stuff has just came out too, looks nice.

I'm waiting for the M8000 with the 46T at the rear due end of summer I think.

Seen the article on PB about the new SLX, looks good, great to see the gradual filter down of tech.

Tommy C's, A Slice of British Pie drops today, constantly scanning between Dirt, FB, Twitter etc for the first signs of it!!!:D

Also Hope just unveiled their Carbon enduro bike, still just a concept bike at the moment, but some very very interesting little features, introduces some new standards, but what i like about it, is that these "standards" have genuine engineering merit and have solid reasoning behind them, not just new standard for money sake, whether these will make it to the production bike if it ever sees the light of day is another story, but interesting nonetheless, its not the most spectacular bike i've ever seen, but it looks good and built by hope you know its going to be solidly engineered and well built.

Looking at the weather the top area is going to have a -2 wind chill and will probably be covered in light snow and ice. It was similar last year and we managed okay. Just don't hang around too long on the top :)

m8000 xt has been excellent so far - best working stuff ive ever had, good range of 1x11 gears, looks good etc.

the slx new looks just as nice I think, probs a tiny bit heavier but will be bargains

The Hope bike is interesting, rather than silly 1-2mm incremental (but need a whole new bike every year) changes ala SRAM - just stop messing about and design what you want to move things forward with actual benefits

also cant wait for British pie!!

lol so many ruined back tyres !

like the old school bmx / sprung feel to it, bit of an antidote to all the super gopro mega produced whistler vids
Absolutely agree, TommyC's films are a refreshing contrast to the ultra slomo goggle donning over produced tat that gets pumped out by the industry at the moment.

Scenario:
You don't have mud tyres on e.g. Shorties. It's muddy as ****... and your bumhole is twitching like a rabbit's nose.
You're basically oot and aboot in nature and going down a slope. What can you do other than hold on for dear life, try not to touch the steering/brakes and become gravity's bitch?
