Mountain Biking

Never been before, but have been invited to Llandegla later this morning, BH Weekend I can imagine its going to be rammed .............

Shouldn't have been concerned - car park and cafe were packed, trails were fine

Awesome day out despite the torrential hail blasts :D

Not often I poke my head in here, but I do seem to be catching the bug a bit. Odd, since it was my hardtail getting stolen which pretty much led me to really getting into cycling, but I just put some wide tyres on my old hybrid and took it round a bunch of local bridle ways, gravel trails and one incredibly muddy wooded section. Really can't justify a new bike right now, but I did notice the lack of suspension... well, that or I put too much air in the tyres. 50psi rear and 40psi front on 26x1.95s.

First time at Coed y Brenin this weekend. Cannot wait.

Gonna do the Dragon's Back trail on Saturday. Haven't decided what to do on Sunday yet.

Not sure if it the 3 spin classes this week are to blame, but Dragon's Back was ****ing difficult. Those fire road climbs are just relentless.

The descents were sent from heaven though. Simply magical.

To be honest dude i didn't even know what mips was about until way after I bought the helmet. I initially bought it for the removeable chin piece but I have up on it as it wasn't ideal to carry around on general riding and I use a full face for enduro racing. The helmet itself is comfy and I notice no difference to any other helmet

Never seen anything negative about the MIPs beyond a few people saying it's slightly less comfortable than the non-MIPS version. The science behind it makes it sound like a good thing to have, not read anything contrary. Now that I've spent this much I'm not sure I want to start having second thoughts :p
Either way, I'm sure it's a much safer helmet than the £30 one I was wearing before!

Other than pink bike, how do you guys sell your bikes?

I have an e29 I need to sell to switch to something more XC. I'm doing BreckEpic in August and can't face 45miles a day at 3000m on 155mm of travel!

Good luck with the Breck Epic, some of those sections of trail are tough :D

If your shock has a climb switch why not stick with the current bike? I'm doing the BC Bike Race on my 150mm travel bike this summer.

Potentially looking at buying myself a new bike for trails riding (Cannock Chase, Chick Sands etc), and am currently looking at the following bikes;

Specialized Stumpjumper FSR Comp 650b 2016

Trek Fuel Ex 9 650b 2015

Trek Fuel EX 8 650b 2016

Any thoughts, suggestions etc would be greatly appreciated as it's been a while since since I had my last decent bike (Specialized Demo 8) and haven't ridden trails in a number of years now so looking for a bike to help me get back into the swing of things (had a large off on the Demo 8 down on the 4x track at Chick Sands, that really knocked the wind out of me and unfortunately really knocked my confidence as well).

Jesus, do you not sweat like mad on the climbs?

I should point out that I'm only about an hour from those Breck trails :p

I did BC bike race last year on the enduro ;)
How much you after
I think between £1500 and £1800. I've added a reverb, XT brakes and a monarch debonair which were about £750 of extras. It has been maintained by a World Cup mechanic too.

What are they like?! Brek is meant to be much less technical than BCBR but the altitude and length are brutal.

Having not ridden for 5>? years following a nasty off that left me with compression wedge fractures of my t2 and t3 vertebrae i decided after putting on a little timber it was time to have another go.

Mine is the boardman, picked it up in excellent condition for £400 which i think is a decent price, this was yesterday during a 20 mile round trip, my backside is sore today!

I do want to change the brakes ASAP, the avid are not the best.
Hoping to start hitting some trails and more adventurous tracks soon, just need to get a little lighter.

No mate, tbh is rather suffer on the stage joining sections than smash my face in again lol

Theres an Enduro event coming up on June and was considering wearing the Full Face. But in 35+c and a good two-three hours worth of climbing it seems suicidal. But having coming off the route, not sure what seems worse :(

How's the MIPS?

A lot of arguments that it's worse for a saftey point of view.

I tried on a few of the Super 2's in my LBS prior to buying one (from the shop I might add) and found the MIPS version was much comfier.
It wasn't the MIPS feature that swayed me, it just felt much nicer to wear.

if it's a savage climb I just get off and push. The amount of people who just ride between sections with their lid off is quite a bit anyways! I gotta be honest the last event at FOD I wore my bell helmet with no chin guard. Won't do t again in a hurry mind.
