Mountain Biking

I'm properly excited for it, not sure where we will be riding though, It'll be towards the end of Sept, so still expecting it to be nice and toasty as well:cool:.
I'm not the group leader so wont have a huge amount of sway to say where we ride, but I'll be doing my research and planting seeds the whole time till we get there.

Macheras is incredible, definitely unrideable to the top though but everytime I rode with your lot we used the trailer for some shuttles. Enjoy, I miss it massively!

Jeez what a ride, just had an amazing session up Chopwell. It was a bit of a late one, after fitting my mates V4's we decided to take the bikes out to give them a burn in. We had planned on a quick blast up Hammers, but on the A1 we changed our mind. It sure was a good decision! Didnt get there till gone 1900, packed up just as the light was fading.
I've been getting to grips with the clash last few rides since building it up, feeling out its characteristics, dialling in the suspension and tyre pressures, getting to know its quirks and such. Well tonight it all came together, tonight I bonded with the bike. It just felt right! Quick blast down powerline to warm up then over to the "off piste" trails and steeper stuff at the back end of the forest, finished up with a couple of runs down powerline at Mach 10. The more aggressive I got with the bike the better it performed it just kept asking to be ridden harder and harder. I feel sorry for those berms! Honestly it has been a long time since I've felt the "buzz" that strong!:D What A bike!!!

So, decided to head to Llandegla this morning and had a wicked day. Took all the black lines, the downhills were good fun, although I was rolling most of the jumps being the first run on these sorts of lines. The uphills, as noted above, were pretty tough! Ended up having to walk some of the red ones towards the end as my legs were just gone by that point.

Got a battle scar when shin met pedal for memories too

All in all a wicked day. Some of the lines were immense fun.

George Brannigans original Queenstown Shredit is still one of my favourite MTB short videos ever. Well he is back at it!

Just back in from a completely impromptu visit to Fort William, been awake for well over 36hrs now. What a journey... what a ride...
It has been a couple of years since I've been up, tracks are running prime, weather was amazing. I ache all over. I forgot just how physical those tracks are. One small stack, a lot of very near misses, and a grin I just cant shed! I'll be feeling it in the morning, but it was so worth it!!!

tough weekend riding the PMBA enduro at Graythwaite this weekend, first race since the same event last september. lack of fitness and not really feeling it practicing saturday wasn't a good start, even worse was a flat front tyre a few corners into stage 1 today. not wanting to completly destroy the tyre or damage the rim i pushed down most of the stage before plugging the tyre so i could carry on. had a couple of good stages in the last 2 stages of the day with top 10 times in catagory(with a crash in one of them). quality of riders in the field was very high due to the lack of races recently so i had no chance of repeating the podium of last year, possibly might have got 11th in grand vets without the flat.
was good to get out racing again especially on a weekend like this one, hopefully the tweedlove races will all go ahead, first one mid july i think.

Had a solo Pootle out around the edge of God's Country this morning - glorious

Went to DYFI today, has to be one of the best places I've rode ever. Some of the gnarliest stuff about, but still plenty rideable. Only one slam, so pretty happy considering!

Wouldn't do slab track in the rain though! :p

I think I need to sort myself some higher rise bars, feel like I'm leaning over a bit too much for comfort, but the reach feels bang on so I don't want to go messing with the stack height. Seems I can get some Spank Spike Vibrocores for £70 in a 50mm rise, should do a nice job raising the front end

Just about recovered from my trip there on Friday. As you say some of the best tracks going. Super Swooper for all out fun, Race Track for fast techier stuff and Slab Track for ! Made good use of the crash nets on the top of the Slab Track

Couple of videos below from my last run of the day on. A far from perfect run down Super Swooper. Crash on the first video, I guess fatigue was the problem as we definately starting to feel it at this point. The jumps definately sound like more effort than they need to be...:p Second video is just finishing the run.

Can imagine Dyfi on a day like this (yesterday) to be great, not so sure it would be enjoyable in the typical welsh weather we have due to how exposed it looks on top!

Rode Wyllie Bike Park (not an official BP!) again yesterday and some new trails I've not ridden before.. such a bloody good few hours. Want to go back out today again but I've got house moving jobs to do :(

Looking fast! Nice off though ha, I only had the one thankfully - it's not the place you want to crash. The woods part on super has got to be one of the greasiest places I've ever rode, I don't think that would ever be dry!

One of the lads thought the first road gap on race track was a drop and hucked it to flat! Race track though is just perfect, so well made.

I'm not ashamed to admit track slab was the most terrifying thing I've went down recently, and I doubt I'd do it in the wet.

.

I did exactly the same! First run down, probably going a bit too fast for first run. Saw the gap in front, check out the chicken line to the left briefly and slowed down a bit but before I realised it was a gap you needed to clear I couldn't stop in time but was going fast enough to clear it so had to huck and hope!

Doesn't help all the signs before are drops. They should really define between drop and gap. Funny though!

Its the top of Carlton Bank looking out over towards Great Ayton
Haha I do not recognise it :D

I've done over 400miles on the new Jeffsy now and the only thing that's wrong, which really isn't anything major is the the Fox Transfer post seems a bit sticky sometimes, it doesn't always fully extend with the "thunk" that I expect. May give that and the shock/fork a service this month before BPW.
