Finally got the crank out, frame stripped to just the front triangle, most of a can of freeze spray, and some 'gentle persuasion' with a rubber mallet finally got it moving a few mm, then it popped out.

Now to order a hope pf41 24mm BB, the fitting tool, a shimano m8100 XT crank, Sram-compatible chainring and fitting tool.

Don't suppose you know what the quality of their grips and pedals is like do you?

Think already been said, but have a look at the Burgtec MK4 pedals. I've got some on my bike and a lot of the guys I ride with have them, that is unless they ride with the Penthouses. They are very good quality for the money. I also ride with Burgtec grips

I've got the penthouse mk5 alloy pedals, they're great (if expensive) but they're angry buggers, out for flesh at every opportunity!
Another happy Mk5 owner here, not long had mine, took a bit of getting used to the level of grip, I'm used to hope F20's. What I like most about them is the platform is huge yet because the platform is closer to the crank arm the outer edge is still significantly closer in, I've noticed a lot less pedal strikes since the change. They also look so ******* good!!!

£110!

I'm tempted with the Unite ones, after the shoddy build quality of my superstars (that I've praised before due to loving the platform).

Yeah but look at them! :D

£110 vs £50 on a £5k build is neither here nor there tbh.

I may get a second pair for my other bike, saves swapping them over all the time.

Just get the composite ones for £40 or so and if you really like the platform splash on the metal ones if/when the composite ones break.

I smack my pedals on far too many things to splash out £110 for a set. I got some nukeproof sam hill which are really nice about a year ago and they are holding up well.

Off to BPW next monday and hopefully persuade the missus to do a day at Forest of Dean while we are nearby. Trails are meant to be amazing

Oh nice!

Done Gisburn this weekend gone with some mates. Hit the Hope Line 5 times, but didn't do the second part of the 8, only the first. Will chuck an edit together some time this week. It was a little bit wet to say the least, we were given an almighty show by the thunderstorm Saturday night too, never seen fork lightning like that in my life, incredible.

Will definitely be back there!

Looking at heading down to Pimbo at some point, looks like an awesome little spot for a day out and getting a bit of practice in with jumps, something I can't really find anywhere good for locally.

Finally took my ebike to be serviced after three years cycling through sea puddles on the beach.... was expecting the worst. But basically all good, lots of paint chipping off etc, but bearings okay.

Looking forward to checking out the new fort william blue runs this summer.

Found myself enquiring about a Chinese carbon frame and now trying to do some mental gymnastics to justify it lol.

Its a bit of a lottery as far as I can tell. Ultimately most of the big brands get their carbon made in china but there are a couple of caveats obviously. In theory the big brands have far more QC and if something does go wrong you have a proper warranty and someone to talk to. If you do break something, you can probably get a spare front triangle etc.

If you happen to get a well made "chinese company" carbon frame though it will be absolutely fine and about 1/3 of the price of the big brands. Some people have suggested buying one and taking it to a carbon specialist to get it scanned for issues in the layup as a kind of guarantee that its all OK internally.

When you do decide to head back to Gisburn give us a heads up on here and I'll join you if that's OK. Don't live far from Gisburn :)

Went to Antur Stiniog on Sunday, weather was pretty miserable but was a good day all the same. Gear cable snapped on my first run and then bent my mech/mech hanger later on but being stuck in 7th (dh bike) isn't really an issue there.
Couple of videos below.

Absolute mate! You can show us a thing or two, we're still relatively new but send it pretty hard. Nowhere as fast as you in them vids though, soaring mate. Will send you a trust whenever we're going next, hopefully soon to do the full loop.

It was ******* it down on Sunday, wasn't a single bit of us dry but fun was had regardless.

Just got the forks ordered from a local store, straight away they were off the website so must have gotten the last pair. My prev Bikester order was returned to sender, didn't even leave Deutschland. Two Michelin Enduro tyres turning up today and then she can be built! Will be building and hitting Hamsterley next Friday, can't wait!

Half my new build came from Bikester with no issues, fortunately! What sort of machine you putting together, if you don't mind me asking
