Mountain Biking

Half my new build came from Bikester with no issues, fortunately! What sort of machine you putting together, if you don't mind me asking

Yeah the other parts I had from Bikester arrived fine, although they was through DPD. The forks were sent UPS and returned a few days later due to brexitness. RIP.

The bikes a bit of a beast. Had some disposable and thought heck it.

Headset: Hope
Pedals: Hope F20
Hubs: Hope 4 Pro
Dropper: Fox Transfer
Bottom bracket: hope
ODI Rogue grips
SDG Bel Air 3 saddle. Mates got one too and it's really comfy
DT Swiss rims - Ex511 Rear & XM481 Front, in for building soon Tubeless 29er Wild Enduro rims.
Groupset: Shimano XT 12 Speed
Brakes are Hope Tech3 V4s
Headset: Hope
Forks: Fox 36 Factory 2021

I can't wait to get out and crash it.

Quick edit I chucked up last night of my mates doing the Powerline, incl the jumps offside and some lil whips over tabletops from one of our mates. Got a lot of footage from Gisburn to go through, hope to get through it this week :D

Very odd, my Lyrik forks came from them via UPS a couple weeks ago no bother. Faster than any DPD delivery as it happens, and with far better tracking.

Looks a pretty mega build, and here I thought mine was a bit of a splurge

Plan is first proper ride tomorrow after work/pre footy

I don't know how you guys are managing to find parts. Though i'm mostly waiting on a frame so not going to buy other parts until i have that.

So this happened today :(

rLPUmMN.jpg

Cut across a PROW across a field which looked like hard pack mud but turned out to be the most awful clay/mud sticky mix.

Halfway cross, and just trying to battle through it with no traction, it must have accumulated so much in my rear mech the chain couldn’t move anymore and my rear mech decided to fold it half :(

So, I need to source a new rear mech, on the bike currently is the SRAM NX Eagle 12 Speed which was stock.

I take it the following would be the correct replacement:

https://www.tredz.co.uk/.SRAM-NX-Ea...t4D3b1wc4uq0oVAdMJnBTt6K7GR__H2BoCT3AQAvD_BwE

also, I may as well get a new chain but can’t seem to find a SRAM 12 speed chain in stock anywhere, is there anything else compatible?

Absolutely gutted as today was the first day of a week off and had loads of rides planned :(

The SRAM stuff is designed around their own chain profile but any 12x chain should work fine i.e. KMC X12, especially if you're wanting to get back riding asap.

To be fair, parts availability isn't as dire as its made out to be. Might not be able to put a basket together from one online store at the moment, but a bit of looking around should see you good, bit more hassle like. Also found in the process of putting together the clash that all the discounts you used to get from the bigger stores are thin on the ground now. RRP is king in the land of MTB retail these days.

Its mostly the frame holding me up. Transition Spur in medium, Sram 1275 cassette is proving difficult as well, want a Reverb AXS 31.6 170mm as well but i could use my current reverb with a shim for the time being.
Pike Ultimate 130mm forks seem to pop in and out of stock.
Wheels aren't a problem as there where im splashing out a bit on either SC Reserve 30mm or Blueflow 31mm either on Pro 4 hubs.

This is absolutely true, some of my bits came from Europe as they were both in stock and cheaper than UK store listings, so the forks were circa £600 for instance compared to £850+ cheapest UK prices (and no stock anyway). Forks, crankset, derailleur, dropper post, saddle all from Germany.

Did you not have tax and stuff to pay, the places i used to use dont look any cheaper anymore, Bikediscount and mantel for instance.

Bikester charge all your dues upfront, so tax is already shown in their prices. Everything I've had from them comes with a Vat invoice showing 20% paid.
I bought some brakes from Bikediscount a few months ago and never heard anything about outstanding fees either.

Can confirm. It's actually pretty nice knowing you don't have to worry about all that stuff.

Also sick bike mate, looks a beast! How are the Enduros? Rear arrived yesterday, front arriving today.

Had them on my hardtail before this so had a few months use on them now. On wet rocks and roots they feel like cheating, honestly! Ideal for British conditions as far as I'm concerned, albeit I haven't tried the latest and greatest from Maxxis/Schwalbe.

Downsides, with great grip comes great rolling resistance! Not ideal for a hardtail you're riding on mellow ground for fitness. Can get a little sketchy on hardpack, especially if it's loose over hard, but I'd happily stick with the same when replacing. Would probably go wider (2.6) next time mind, just because this bike can take up to 2.8 tyres front and rear

Might get all the 12 speed stuff sorted then, can start using it on my current bike. Then it would mostly be frame, forks and wheels to buy. My current XX1 11 speed cassette is already well worn but want to make the jump so haven't replaced it yet, just got to be careful in the 42t ring don't overdo the power.

It's always a bit sketchy on loose over hard. I could only find the 2.4s too, would have preferred .5 but nevermind. A bit wider than the 2.3 on my current bike.
