Mountain Biking

It's supposed to be very wet early next week. I don’t know how experienced you are, so excuse me for jumping to conclusions, but I think you’re going to struggle up there a bit.

If I were you, I'd come back when its dried out.

Pretty sweet timelapse technology form Microsoft

http://research.microsoft.com/en-us/um/redmond/projects/hyperlapseapps/

Should be cool to mix it up in POV footage

I don't get it... it turns video into timelapse style footage?

Want to show your friends what you saw on that 12-mile hike you took last weekend or let them experience how it felt to fly down the mountain on your recent ski trip?
How is timelapse gong to give a better sense of speed than a normal video will?

Am I missing the point here?

On another note, riding is out for this weekend for me :( Wrist is mangled, can't even open my water bottle :(

Anyone got any advice/info for Swinley? :)

Keep pedalling and dont join the Facebook group.

Yes, hence me saying sweet timelapse technology :p

Look at normal sped up footage, then look at this hyperlapse to see the difference - this is essentially stabalised / more of a floaty look to it.

I have already booked the ticket, I'll see if I can change it. I just looked at the weather for London and it said was going to be sunny on Tuesday maybe should have been more specific in the weather location. :)

Edit: Well I just changed it to Monday 1st June, will see what the weathers like closer to the time and go from there

Ps: please, if you go on and like our Aston Hill facebook page… please, I beg you, don’t message and ask what the weather is like, please.
The number of times I need to answer that fcking question drives me nuts. If it rains outside, it’s wet. If it’s not been raining, then it’s dry. Everyone has the same access to the weather report as we do!!1

GAARRGGHH

/ok, rant over… I feel better now

He's demo'ing a Bird. Isn't it mandatory to join the FB group?

When you get to the end of blue 10, turn right down the fire road and keep your eyes peeled for the "Red trail diversion" sign when you get to a clearing called "star post" (impossible to miss). The sign will be in front of you, and you need to make a slight right turn to start the red trail. If you follow the wrong sign, you will be making a sharp left turn and you'll cut out about 5km of the trail.

If it's confusing when you get there, just ask someone :) Despite its proximity to London, people are friendly.

Don't think its mandatory no :p
I made the mistake of joining, and bigger mistake of reading the drivel on there and not leaving. It's akin to watching terrible TV you hate, but for some reason keep watching.

Yeah I honestly don't know why I haven't left. On the very odd occasion someone will post something interesting like a trail I've never heard of, but the majority of it is "Buying a new bike. Which wheel size is the bestest?"

But you don't get insurance if you do that ;)

Which FB page do you want me to like?

Yes, you do.

This is the FB group for AH:

I’ve never gotten anything out of it, apart from rage / somewhere to spend some time when I’m bored at work.

Fair point, sorry yes that is technically correct.

When you say technically correct, what do you mean?

I'd prefer not to pre-book so I don't have to change dates because of the weather but if I miss out on the 3rd party insurance then I think its still best I do that.

Cheers

I'm a little too embroidled in the politics of it all, just saying you don't need to book before hand as it's more convenient to make up your mind on the day / day before etc.

No one's needed 3rd party insurance in the history of Aston Hill.

Biking and politics :(

Get a load of it on my local trail FB page, mostly with walkers and horse riders. Building a trail in an area that is very very popular with both wasn't the most amazing idea in the first place mind.

Just finished W2 at Afan Forest (42km). Absolutely knackered. I had forgotten how rocky that place is! So damn good though, and the descents are mentally and physically challenging.
