Mountain Biking

I try to move it back but evidently I mustn't do it all the time! What I wasn't sure of whether a shorter stem would force me to move my weight back more naturally? I know on my road bike I have a tendency to ride on the front of the saddle with a fair amount of weight forward.

depends what youre doing when youre going over the bars.

do you mean on steep decents? if so shift your bum off the back of the saddle. if you remain static body position then you will go over even with a shorter stem.

Got an annoying issue on my Fulls Sus.... If I'm riding and hit the rear brake, I get a nasty noise. That same metalic sound you get when doing up an old bolt tightly...
Brakes themselves are fine, biting with no issues, if I've not got my weight on the bike it's absolutely fine. Riding and hitting the front brake is fine too. So I guess I've got something wrong with my rear suspension, LBS recommended checking over all the various joints and making sure they're all lubricated.

A quick look over the bolts earlier and it came apparent that the main chainstay hinge from by the chain ring has come a bit lose. Will strip the bike down a bit tomorrow to check it over, is it likely I've done any lasting damage?

Usually on rougher rock gardens, feels like my front gets caught in all the ruts when doing them. I have a dropper post so I am dropping my weight lower when doing them and I thought I was bringing my weight back. Sounds like I need to try and bring it even further back?

its ok - some of my lot are in morzine right now and keep sending me pics and clips (also most of the DH world seems to be there still after the DHWC last weekend :( )

And that's different to me HOW?!
I've said goodbye to the Alps for the last time, without even knowing it would have been my last time, let that sink in :(

Well, I decided to go to Morzine, because #YOLO and all that :/

Pretty much done!
Got impatient waiting for pedals and stem and bought a cheap stem and nicked some cheap pedals off another bike and got it all built up today.
Gears need a bit if adjusting and the saddle is also nicked from my hardtail and is terrible.
All up weight is 14kg :D
Feel so much nicer than my hardtail.
Once my real stem arrives I will cut the steerer and get it set up for a ride, hopefully next weekend!

Can someone 'splain drivetrains to me.

I want to, if I can... change a current 3x9 setup to a 1x10 setup on my old Camber.

It currently has SLX bits on it.. but that package builder above gives the options to go for a 1x10 whatsit, cassette etc, then add on a 42T expander cog... so how's that work?

I have a 10-42 11 speed cassette on my new bike, Sram X1 stuff... but wondering if I could go for something similar cobbled together from this builder thingy... however I have no idea what I need, in terms of ... well, everything.

Halp, plox?

Ah - well I never thought to look how cassettes are constructed, but thinking about it the current one came in bits.... so I'm a r-tard ;)

Cool - thanks for that. Say I went for a 32T on the front... what size RD and chain would I need, any one know?

Any 10speed chain and RD will work. You'll also need a 10speed shifter to match the RD.
Best to get a clutch style RD and a narrow-wide chainring for a 1x10 setup (like the Zee stuff you linked)

It's just there's a couple of number of links options. I don't know if you can easily remove links from a longer chain?
