I tend to ride with them about there, or slightly further forward - Think I've just grown used to it.

Tried SPD shoes a while back, just couldn't get along with them, foot in the wrong place and couldn't hang my knees out around berms properly.

Anyone got a PP Shan or bike with direct mount derailluer? I'm trying to work out if I need to remove the dog leg of the XT M8000 RD as per the first min or so of this video:

I would say probably not, the range i had was direct mount rear mech as well, but similar to the bike in that video, the hanger was spaced back further than normal hangers, from the photos of the Shan frames i've seen the Shan looks to have a regular mech hanger.

^ this. don't take it off.

edit: or take it off and try it and realise it doesn't actually fit the rear mech hanger of the Shan with it off :)

Had a cracking couple of days matched betting so treated myself to a new hardtail:-

Great value at the moment to.

Yup - they only had a display one on the shop floor in my size as well - haggled another £100 off because the seatpost had scratches on it from being adjusted - so £650 in the end. I've been eyeing up this model since last summer ever time it went in a sale!

Ive got the same bike. When I went to buy it the seatpost was scratched to hell and the whole bike was dusty and wobbly. I kicked up a stink and then they got me a brand new one out of a box and gave me £90 to spend on accessories.

Went from being my worst to best friends :D
