Mouse mat

I have the OcUK Mega Mat XXL Premium Elite Tactical Gaming Surface from a special deal they offered forum members four years ago for £8.99.

I also have a normal size mouse mat on top of that which I got with free with a Vega 56 GPU. It's a World War Z mouse mat with the MSI logo in the top left and the AMD 50th anniversary logo in the top right.

My Wallhack skypad just arrived today, first glass mouse pad I've used since an Icemat way back when. I've been using an Artisan mousepad for the past few years, and if you're willing to import one in (I'd recommend getting 2, makes the shipping worth) they're fantastic pads.

As for the Wallhack skypad Im using now, I love it.

Just bought one myself with a sleeve and mouse skates - I will either return it in a week or keep it for a decade.

Got the Wallhack SP-004

Sleeve with palm support and mouse skates

Will take a little adjusting to, and I did bump up my dpi to 4000 (8K polling rate)
as that feels most natural to me at the moment especially at 480hz lots of quick corrections I can make.

I have some massive old OCUK branded mat XXXL or whatever.

Must have had it for about 10 years, they seem to never wear down.

I washed mine in the bath loads of times, giving it a good scrub etc,

Since i've switched to Artisan I don't think i'd go back to anything else. Yes the price is pretty high but the quality is worth it and the feel is so much better than any other pad i've had. Far more consistent with it.

Now on Black Friday sale - so had to repurchase and return what I've already opened

I prefer the days where'd they'd offer the current price at a refund to you :)

It's a £35 pound difference so gotta do it.

Bonkers world we now live in, had the same recently with a retailer - Item I bought had dropped £20 a couple of days later but only way to get £20 was to re-order and return…

I did exactly that, rather my daughters piggy bank gain £20 rather than Jeff :D

I've got a Titanwolf one, it's great but tends to mark easily and isn't cat friendly. Does a material one exist that somehow combats this?

Can't speak for cat damage but my big fabric corsair mat wipes clean fairly well, and when a sponge and a bit of soapy water isn't enough, I just bung it in the washing machine once a year or so on a 30min 30c quickwash... sorts it right out. That'l probably make it wear out quicker but it still looks new after 2 years.

Got the Obsidian Pro Mouse Skates and they started collecting dust a bit too easily after fitting them for the SkyPad 4.0
switched to Superglide2 as they fit my mouse specifications exactly + made out of glass, I'd recommend going in that direction if you have to and avoid the issues I did.

Recently took delivery of an SP-004 and some Obsidian Pros. Honestly not sure how I feel about it yet. My normal setup is a huge mat that covers my whole desk, which makes moving peripherals around for work vs gaming easy (Large wacom being the main offender). With the SP-004 that now too is basically a peripheral itself that can no longer live on my desk all day, because working on it is a PITA and it can't live alongside my Wacom. I'm still fairly tempted to return it but ordering direct means I've paid shipping to me (£16) and they'll now deduct shipping from my refund, meaning it's cost £32 to try it for a week, which for a £97 pad feels a bit daft. It is nice to game on for fast paced FPS so still may keep it. Or throw it on the MM. Seems at least like it genuinely will stay the same for ages which is a very nice change from a cloth pad.

If you didn't want to keep then I'd whack it on MM or the Bay, you'll definitely have interest in it vs. returning directly and swallowing that 32 quid.

I had the same with a keyboard case I ordered, ended up breaking even/making a few quid profit selling it on the Bay vs. losing shipping costs to return it to China.

A cheap, large plain black one. I found mice do not like the lines and patterns on some of the fancy mats and cause them to twitch slightly as they go over them.

Well I returned the SP-004, and on recommendation of some random youtube video I ordered a Fantech Strikepad (Which was less than a quarter of the price). It's still a very fast pad with a fibreglass surface, so still super fun to play Overwatch, Battlefield, Marvel Rivals etc on, but it still has a little bit of squidge and give (And it's foldable), so not only does it feel much more forgiving to play on, but I can throw it behind me when I need to swap to work mode without worrying I'm going to smash it to bits.
