Hello everyone,

I currently own a MX518 and it's been giving me problems, I also have never been impressed with it. I was wondering if someone can help me pick a mouse, I'm mainly an MMO player.

My budget is £70.

I have looked at these 4:

Razer Deathadder (Seems pretty good for the price tag)
Razer Naga (Anyone who plays WoW praises this mouse a lot but I'm not really sure why I'd want all the buttons, I already have all my abilities keybound)
Roccat Kone+ (all reviews seem to be pretty good)
Steelseries XAI HD (hear good things about this one too)

So far I'm inclined to go for the Razer Naga Molten Edition but not sure, anyone can help?

I wouldn't go for razer stuff at all. Everyone I know, including myself, gets a razer product and something about it stops working after about a year. So expensive too :/

Yah guys, tbh, if it wasn't for all the extra buttons (im an mmo player), I wouldn't even consider the razer since the steelseries XAI looks really good and the Roccat Kone+ has amazing reviews.

Everyone who plays wow says the extra buttons are amazing to have thou, Im just not sure how well I'd use them since I dont know if it would be awkward to click the right ones with my thumb...

I have a R.A.T 5 and its awesome.

The R.A.T. series have very bad lift-off movement. I read up on mouse sensors massively about half a year ago, and some of the youtube vidoes showing the R.A.T. mice having tracking issues are atrocious. I really wanted a rat7 too, but I just couldn't live with a mouse that drops the cursor whenever I lift the mouse slightly.

As a RAT7 owner it's a total non-issue unless you are a low-sense lifter. My mouse never leaves the surface, ever. I love mine, I am very used to it, use the second horizontal scroll wheel daily (which gives me 8 extra binds on the mouse in WoW with ctrl/shift and alt modifiers) and have no complaints overall. Software could be a little prettier but it's functional, which is what matters.

I will never buy from Roccat ever again. They basically told me to "Get lost, tough" when my Kone v1 mouse-wheel broke. A known manufacturing defect but given an 'expiry' for repair/replacement. E-mailed, spoke directly on the phone and nothing, not interested at all.

I should have intentionally broke it and got it replaced there and then instead of seeing if the issue arose for me.

Avoid.

buys roccat kone falls to pieces as soon as out box. gets replacement takes out box brakes . just keep reating this then plug mx 518 back in :p

buy logitech or raser forget the rest.

google for roccat problems or even check threads on here.

My Diamondback 3G works perfectly fine after 2 years, so does my old one which i use with my laptop which is about 4 years old now.

I'd reccommend either Razer or Logitech, go to a shop which has a decent selection of mouses and try them out in your hand, see which is most comfortable etc. Then buy it online (assuming it's cheaper).

Yeah i had a razer copperhead for about 2 years as well, i sold it to my cousin and i believe he still has it, so it's lasted us about 3-4 years now.

I must admit thou. Im not impressed with the roccat kone responses in this thread :P, maybe i ll just get the razer naga, a well known e seller is doing it for 20-30 pounds less then everywhere else so i might gamble it and hope i like it

The Kone is a good technical upgrade over the 518 and the buttons are in familiar places. However, Roccats build quality and customer service is terrible.
Razers build quality is better, but only just. If you need an upgrade for MMO purposes then you should probably go for the Naga.

Although, I fail to see how the MX518 can cause you problems that aren't fixable by contacting people here or at Logitech HQ. Sounds more like you just want to buy something new.
