So you can't have a bit of a laugh when raising money for charity? The ultimate result is people know about it which is good, which means next time it comes around more people are likely to chip in. We are a grumpy young man aren't we?!
Of course you can, thats part of the appeal. My issue is just that its possibly the easiest thing in the world, not shaving. Combine that with the way some people seem to be dealing with it - not just in my place of work, friends have said it's been the same elsewhere - its not off to the best start as far as I've seen.
Agree with Freefaller, I'm a teacher and the amount of students who have asked what it's about (when not taking the michael) and learnt what prostate cancer is has to be a good thing. If I was doing a charity bungee jump or something, it wouldn't have happened.
In fairness that's quite a specific situation, kids have a natural curiosity. In normal adult life, you wouldnt ask a stranger.
You're such an old man iaind.
yeah I know I know, 25 going on 55, always been the way.
I don't want to come across as a miserable sod and i dont want people to misunderstand me. I applaud anyone for even wanting to do something for charity, especially cancer charities, I just want people to realise that the effort and passion could be better directed.
As a good will gesture, as I've obviously evoked some hatred, I'd like to offer the following. If, at the end of Movember, the total raised was more than 50 quid per moustache then I was wrong - I'll donate £20 for everyone in this thread participating (with pictures). At current count, that's about £180 by the looks of things.
If I was right, and the people participating would have been better off just giving 50 quid each, illl still donate a round £100.
