Thought I'd share my budget as well:
Rent: £500
Council Tax: ~£70
Water: £42
Electricity: ~£100
Groceries (that includes toiletries and anything else): £200
Work allowance(eating lunch at cantene): £80
Bus ticket: £65
Broadband: £22.50
Phone: £32
Student Load: £69
I think this is all.
Comes out at £1180 per month
Note that everything that;s not set, like electricity and groceries and work allowance, I've used a value that's above what I normally spend.
Cook every night at home, eat my breakfast at home and take a sandwich with me at work for breakfast there.

£130 for gas, electric and water is in the right ballpark. Perhaps a little on the low side for the winter months, but not too far off assuming that you have gas central heating. If your central heating is electric then expect to pay more for heating.
Personally I pay £110 per month for gas and electric (direct debit), and the water rate works out at about £35 per month. My electric bill is quite high though, because I have a high-end PC running for long hours (work-related thing). I tend to over-pay in the summer months and under-pay in winter.
As for the reason most of the discussion is about food: This is the area that will vary the most from person to person. You pay the rent, tax, fuel (etc) bills as required, but groceries is one place where bills can vary dramatically. Someone on a tight budget could easily spend a third of what someone not restricting themselves may do.
Is that just for you or two people??

It isn't, the TV licensing website clearly states this. There's no way of them checking up on it in any case so no point in burning £15 a month, I certainly don't.

Move to Wandsworth. Band H is £130/month down here. My Band F is £74/month with single person discount.

Like I said, there is no magic way for them to tell if you are watching TV anyway. Short of them seeing you through the window, only the police can enter your property without a warrant, so shut the door on inspectors. Why pay for something you don't need to?

I don't want to put you off as the house looks lovely but it's close to one of the roughest areas in town. But a home is what you make it and a new development like that is likely to attract a nicer class of person.
