Moving to Cheshire

In the majority of Cheshire, as described, this is 3 bed semi money.

Likely looking at Winsford, Crewe, Sandbach, Congleton, Alsager, Middlewich, Northwich or Macclesfield. Further out, Chester, Ellesmere Port, Frodsham or Warrington.

Personally out of all of those, I'd be looking at Sandbach, Congleton, Northwich or Macclesfield. Chester would be a good shout, but it's much further away from Manchester and on a different line, relatively easy to get to Liverpool though.

Been told by people who live in Middlewich that it is a complete dump.

Macclesfield is pretty good town center, decent enough selection of shops.

We been to the same Macc? It hasn't got toss. A b+m and a boots.

Oh and cinemacc, the one screen projector with folding lawn chairs.

I was thinking the same thing, I gig there quite a bit and it's empty compared to Stoke who've got big stores on every street corner (nearly).

Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire gets a bad rep. Sure, it's no Didsbury/Wilmslow/Alderley Edge but then we're talking about a decent sized city which is always going to have it's ****holes.

There are some really nice places in or around the borders of Stoke on Trent (not to be confused with Stoke town!) and North Staffordshire

  • Mow Cop
  • Bagnall/Stanley
  • Light Oaks
  • Barlaston
  • Brown Edge
  • Church Lawton
  • Westlands
  • Biddulph Moor - Staffordshire Moorland

Hi all, I'll be moving to Cheshire in the next 2 months. I live in West London atm. My sons are 19 and 21, the 19 yr old is currently in his 2nd yr of apprenticeship so we'll need to be near a good college. Also need to be able to get to big cities (Liverpool/Manchester) for my 21 yr old I to fund work.
Don't know anything about Cheshire, just feels right to relocate there and start afresh.
Ideally we would like 3/4 bed detached property in a nice area close to local shops/shopping centres. But also for it to be semi rural, countryside but at the same time not completely cut off.

Please let me know which areas I should be looking at. My budget will be 150k-200. I'm selling my house and awaiting a decent offer, so unsure of the actual amount U'll have. Thankyou, can't wait to hear from you all.

OP if you have looked at Crewe and need any advice then happy to help as I moved to the outskirts of Crewe 4 years ago.

Take a look at Wychwood Village, Saxon Gate Development, Shavington and Haslington.

You will probably notice that the town center is a dump with nothing going for it, there are provisional plans in place to completely refurb the town center though - and its only a 20 minute drive to Stoke which has everything you could ask for even if folk on here slate it.

Completely agree Tommo - all of those area's are great. I work in Tunstall and grew up in the area and yes its a dump in places but I've been to many other cities that are a lot worse.

Find somewhere near Cheshire Oaks (Ellesmere Port) as you'll have all the shops you want then. And cinemas and bowling alleys!

If you move further north to ramsbottom/ todmorden you can get a very big detached for that price in some really nice semi rural places.

You will struggle in Cheshire for anything decent at that price.

I'd say she'd struggle in Ramsbottom. I've been looking at moving back recently and have been struggling for much under £280k.

She'd have some look moving more towards Haslingden/Rawtenstall/Waterfoot though. Links into Manchester are less good though. My suggestion would be Whitefield/Prestwich. All on the metrolink line so very easy into Manchester centre.
