Moving to the dark side of the force

yep there is no difference with online play except for some of the Live features which TBH i don't miss and isn't worth £40 just so i can chat to someone else in a different game

My point of it being an odd decision was valid. Going from an Xbox360 to a PS3 could only be for exclusives of which only Uncharted and Motorstorm

Uncharted agreed, but has the frame rate been fixed on Motorstorm yet? 28FPS IIRC
Just dont jump ship based on Sony's lies.

No need to pay more than £30 for Live, just wait for offers, have Sony stated their version is free forever?

Personally I think it's not long til I get one myself, but I wouldn't trade in what I already have for one. Now HD is all but dead I was looking at getting a Blue ray player so I may as well buy one even if I dont play many games on it. I wish I'd bought a 60g one though because of the backwards compat.

The 2nd hand prices for them are stupid now, if another comes out with it on I won't hesitate to buy one.

All this talk of buying a PS3 as a good Blu Ray player and because it does so many other things, you may as well buy a decent laptop for the original price of a PS3 and add a Blu-ray burner for 50 quid next year.

Not really going to cut it though underneath the living room TV. I can turn off and boot up and Ps3 in seconds to watch a film. Easier than with a laptop.

I want a blu ray player and it's the best option for me and if it's back compat the wife can carry on playing her old tat and we can remove the ps2 from under the tv.

Does anyone know if there are any plans to release any more back compat ps3's?

Personally hope we'll see the 80gb BC version that is everywhere else in the world.

I guess a 40gb version is fine, and then I'll buy the new PS2 seperate, And so maximising the games that will work.

But It's a shame, because i'd rather not have both in my living room. I think I said before, If the new PS2 has the ability to pick up on the PS3's pad. That'd be an awesome bonus.

But then you'd miss out on the fantastic games?

I can only think of uncharted in the 'fantastic' bracket, everything else has been dissapointing considering Sony's original claims, certainly not worth paying £299 for let alone the original £429. I'm all for early adpoting if the tech is ground breaking, that last time Sony did something considered ground breaking was the PS1. Everything else they do these days is just playing catch up.

Wasn't one of the selling points of the PS3 you can add any hard drive  You get 160GB with a 299 laptop

Surely she can play old tat via 360's back compat?
Still can't believe Sony removed it though but some of those screens that screw to the back of the PS Slim are ideal for wives and kids.

Pointless, you will miss out on the 2008 360 games, you might as well wait till next year and get a PS3 even cheaper and you will have all the 2008 exclusive games to play rather than waiting for them now.

No she already owns all the games for the ps2. I wouldn't re-buy them for the 360. I want a blu-ray player she wants singstar and all that MP party game quiz stuff the the playstation has done so well.

Keeps her off my back while I'm on the 360.

Think i will buy a bigger drive for my ps3 in the future but the 40gb models not being able to play ps2 games was a bad move , my mate has loads of ps2 games and is abit miffed at that but for me ps3 games & blu ray is all i am interested in .

The 08 360 lineup is shocking, the PS3s line up is a hell of a lot better so enless the op wants to play gears or pgr i reckon that the move is a wise decision. Thats before rrod issues as well.imo.

Oh try not to be an incredible fanboy for a second. Ninja Gaiden 2 and Fable 2 just to pluck two out of a 'shocking' line up. I remember not that long ago when Sony fans were loving Ninja Gaiden as the best game on the PS3, suddenly its shocking now....
