Moving to the dark side of the force

 - pathetic, lol

as for old singstar keep the mics and sell off the old games to get the PS3 singstar which now has singstore, same with Buzz - new version out soon with own store for downloading new quizz's , play online against other teams and create you own quizz's that can be shared online

Right so can she download her favourite tracks from the ps2 singstars?

Not quite yet. I think they said originally all old songs would be on the store when ps3 Singstar is released, but that turned out not to be the case (I am sure some of her ps2 faves are on the new store, but not all of them are, yet).

I just added the tracklist from wiki to my favs to see what she thinks when she gets home. A great list of downloadable tracks too, I think she might be happy with that. So to clarify she can use her original mics and buzzers?

Mics, yes. Buzzers I am unsure as there is not many details on the ps3 version of Buzz yet (that i have seen). They would be stupid to not make the old ones compatible if they are USB (but they have done stupider things in the past, so it is possible!!)

Not tried it but i think Buzz works on the 60Gb (obviously the 40 wont) PS3 including the controllers, not sure if anyone on here has tried it, but that seems to be correct according to various forums. I thought the controllers didnt work but that may have been patched in a system update, TBH id try it first as you can never be to sure. The PS3 and PSP versions of Buzz are supposed to be out this spring time though.

Thanks guys if the tracklisting is to her taste, I will buy one tommorow for Her :D

You can get Singstar PS3 for about £18 in supermarkets, as you already have the PS2 ones no need to get the ones with mics, PS Eye (not sure about other USB cameras) is also supposed to be good for this game (Mcmanicman is prob the one to ask about this), there's a singstar PS3 thread somewhere on here, may have a bit more info.

Just been looking at a PS3 for £260 delivered but its a 40gig one. As tempting as that is for that price It would still mean we have to find room for the ps2. Bah I found somewhere taking pre-orders on some 60gigs they have coming in but they want £400.

Are they actually going to be releasing more with back compat or am I going to have to buy one without?

They seem to take the **** with the price of the 60gb one but i bet plenty would pay that much to be able to still use there ps2 games .

There are loads of people on this very forum who have 60gb units, who are very unhappy with the console's/Sony's performance. They go into a lot of threads with their "I won both consoles so my opinion is right" attitudes. I am surprised one of those guys who hates their ps3 so much doesn't want to sell off their 60gb units to help out a forum member.

Have you considered asking in "Wanted" sub forum? (only useful if you are happy/want a 2nd hand unit, obviously).

if you have the old eyetoy you can use that in singstar (ps3 version) along with the xbox vison cam (i think). Video quality isn't the same as the playstation eye though but will do temporary. Its a must for Singstar so you can upload your video clip to singstar website

I did consider that mate, the trouble is they were going for sub £300 until the stock dried up, now the 2nd hand price is nearer £400.

Maybe europe will get the 80gig coming with back compat. I heard everywhere else still gets them. I'm going to the states soon and considered that an option but I hear most of the issues are with the newer ones so not having a warranty might not be a good idea.

Plus a USA one would only play back USA ps2 games. USA does not have the 80gbs no more (apart from old stock, I think) and Japan is due to go 40gb only in March/Apr (I think). I would not even be surprised if none of the 80gb are even manufactured anymore.

Cheapest I seen for a 12 month guaranteed 60gb unit is £375 which is a bit high. I think 350 is reasonable (although I would not buy 2nd hand tbh).

Best time to get one was after 40gb came out, and even up to xmas you could get 60gb for reasonable prices (349ish brand new), but I think you have missed the boat now.

Don't hold out for a "new" "80gb/120gb/160gb" edition, as even if it does come, I highly doubt it will have BC in it, and we will get it after Japan and USA (you will need the UK edition if you want to play your missus' old UK Pal Ps2 games).

y wait for 80gb/100/120/160 models when u can upgrade HDD anyway.

Is that all they change or am i missing something? (apart from 40gb model dont do ps2 games)

I wouldn't get rid of a 360 to buy a PS3, and likewise I wouldn't get rid of a PS3 for a 360, it's honestly better if you can have both if its affordable.

Both will have fantastic exclusives this year, depending on what MS announce at GDC or E3 I will hopefully pick up another 360 at some point, and will then have all five (PS3/360/DS/PSP/Wii)
