Moza Flight Gear

Ok so let me get this right ...I placed an order for the Desk Clamp on the 21/08/24 I have now had conformation that it has now been posted.

But still no conformation on the FFB Base order which was placed on the 28/06/24.

What gets me is that they are now promising a 7-12 turn around.

No using my TM A-10 with it.

I also ordered the Desk clamp which came before the Base. I had to email them and ask where my order was because people who placed their order after me in August were getting theirs even though I had placed my order in June.

I must say I am very impressed with the unit, flying Choppers again have become so easy no more Trim confusion lovely stable flight. The force is just about right and there are loads of settings to fine tune youir nexperiance.

AB9 ordered, though I’m not expecting it for a month.

I would have preferred to purchase from OCUK, but there has been no comms on the subject.

Their Logistics suck!

I pre ordered mine in June then I noticed that people who had just placed their order September after mine began receiving theirs.
So I emailed them and they sent mine out....it seems they forgot about me!

Amazingly, it arrived today.
Attaching it to my cockpit took some time, but got there in the end. I've centre mounted it and I'm using a 20cm swam neck extension with a Virpil alpha grip.

The easy bit was the Moza software. Fire it up, upgrade it, select the game and an aircraft profile and jump in.
The more time consuming job being that DCS has separate mappings for each aircraft, and I have quite a few of them.

Took a Huey and a Spitfire out for a spin.
Using the provided profiles, both felt good. The Spit could do we some finessing, as the extension is effectively reducing the torque felt at the grip. Very amusing to see what happens when you stall in a vertical climb, as the controls just loose all weight.
The Huey impressed me more, felt really natural (which as I'm NOT a real chopper pilot, is a bit of a weird thing to think).

In short, as a unit, seems good. It'll clearly take some tweaking to get the best from it, and we're in early days.

would love to see a comparison with the Rhino...

Right now, I’d expect the Rhino to be better.
As you’re probably aware, hardware is if anything the easy bit. The more difficult is the control software and how it can and is applied.
The Rhino has been in use for over a year now, so has a good head start on refining of profiles.

Having said all of that:
- the AB9 is cheaper
- the speed of their software development has been much faster than I expected
- it has a warranty. Might be hard to use, bearing in mind the source, but it’s better than none
- there are likely to be significantly more AB9 than Rhino users in a couple of years, which increases the probability of flight sim software like DCS and FS facilitating APIs

Yes the AB9 is cheaper and better presented for consumers. If they can at least match the Rhino in terms of feel, detail and performance they are onto a winner for sure that's why we need the comparison imho.

How did you manage to centre mount it so low in your rig @Mr_Sukebe ?

My flight sim frame base is an Si Turnbull, so basic 4040 and 4080 profiles.
The AB9 is bolted to a Monstertech warthog base, which is then attached onto a 4040 extrusion that I’ve added on top of the main front to back rails.
Seems very solid.

Another option I found was that it was possible to attach 4 angle brackets for Alu Profile to the base of the AB9 and there is sufficient room to then slide in a 4040 profile such that two of the angle brackets are either side of the extrusion. That was even more solid, but is only possible to be used if the extrusion is side to side on the AB9, not front to back (hope that makes sense).
I can take a pic later if you wish

Having used both a Logitech G930 and a MS FFB Joystick in the past one thing I found frustrating was they had a hand detector, this meant they jumped every time you took your hand off the stick or put it back. Does this "feature" exist on direct drive FFB joysticks/yokes? Does the Moza know your hand in on the stick or not?

TIA

I've not really thought about it or noticed it, so I don't believe so. I'll check this evening.
