Moza Flight Gear

Having used both a Logitech G930 and a MS FFB Joystick in the past one thing I found frustrating was they had a hand detector, this meant they jumped every time you took your hand off the stick or put it back. Does this "feature" exist on direct drive FFB joysticks/yokes? Does the Moza know your hand in on the stick or not?

TIA
it wont detect it imho because they support 3rd party grips which wont have any sensors

So... those who picked one of these up how are you feeling about it after some time? My rubbish x56 is getting really bad and even after disassembly and lube application it binds badly and I'm sorely tempted to throw some money at one of these in the hopes that it will be a) good and b) last a good number of years, it's either that or I throw together something on the 3d printer to make use of the X56 electronics but I'm not sure I can really be bothered as it's still only going to be a standard non feedback stick.

Main uses would be for IL2 BoX series, a bit of FS 2020/2024, Elite Dangerous and hopefully Aces of Thunder, I know there is no profile for Elite but I think it can be just setup as a normal stick for that correct?

My AB9 was to replace a Virpil T50 base. I’ve kept the T50 just in case, but have never wanted to go back to it.
The AB9 really is ace.

A few additional thoughts:
- one of the firmware updates introced ghost button presses for Virpil Alpha users (ie including me). That’s the only real issue that I’ve had. The workaround was to rollback firmware (pretty easy) and has now been resolved
- I still feel that we’re at early days for the configuration settings. There’s a lot of options, which would be great if we actually knew what a real pilot experiences. People do comment on the force required to move the stick, but that’s only part of it. If you’re in say a Mirage F1 and put landing gear down, is that something that you’d feel? I’ve no idea. Over time, I’m hoping that this will improve. Failing that, of course it’s possible to set them however you like
- there is a Moza Discord channel where we can share presets, and some have been created
- out of the box, Moza has presets for DCS aircraft such that it’s easy to reuse for other aircraft of similar types, eg 1 helicopter, 1 warbird etc
- there’s no profile for Elite
- there is a profile for IL2, but I’ve not used it
- there’s three ways that the Moza takes data. At a basic level, just axis commands, which is what you’ll get with say Elite. Telemetry captures additional data from the game and is what I use with DCS that adds in awareness of say firing a weapon. Direct enables the game developers to send aircraft specific data and you’d expect that to be the optimum. Of course that requires the developers to use the capability. In the case of DCS, ED stated that they recently bought their own AB9 to look at how to enable it. At a minimum, we’re likely to be months before seeing big changes, but I’m confident that it’ll happen.

In short, FFB is very good and I’ve not really had any insurmountable issues.
There are additional FFB bases incoming from Virpil and WinWing. Will they be better? I’ve no idea. IMO a lot of the better will be down to the maturity of the software and at least in that area, Moza are looking good.

Hope that helps

That's great thank you, just to confirm though, you can still use it as a basic stick in Elite correct?
