Lucky you, that's what I get out of my diesel 'mera. Mind you I don't hang abount behind pensioner Mondeos on slow lanes.. ;)

And as you can see below, I rarely reach 40 mpg brim to brim...

I'm happy to be seeing 34.6MPG average from a tank :)

On a single motorway run, I can see 37MPG, but that is it!

When caning it, i have seen an average over a 30 mile run of 15.2MPG :(
 
The Liz normally gets 250 miles to a tank and it usually takes about £28 to fill her up, bearing in mind that the Elise's fuel guage is bobbins and will happily fluctuate by a good 5L at the drop of a hat. Not sure what the exact calculation is or exactly how big the tank is but I reckons that's in the region of 38/40 mpg. Not bad.
 
yeah, that's the trip computer, bars on the right light up with real time mpg reading, jump up and down, whole shabang... :)
 
My brother managed to get 364 miles out of the 35 litre tank in his S1 Elise (before conking out on the M3 :D ) which works out at over 47mpg!

Assuming you have an S1, it's 36.4L according to the manual.

She's an S2 120bhp. My rubbish little citroen ax (all 107k miles of her) will do 350miles and takes roughly £35 to fill. By my calcs that's a return of 45mpg. Must be doing something wrong here - I can't believe a 13yr old <1L cars that efficient! (weighs bugger all though...)

That's like the prius.
Except they also have this cool little graphic type thing that tells you what the car is thinking and how its using its resources effectively.

Compared to a 44 tonner, I'm quite surprised its not an awul lot higher for the lighter car with a smaller engine. :confused:

An average of 9.4MPG for such a massively bigger, heavier & larger engined vehicle which incidentally has the aerodynamic properties of a brick to my mind is staggeringly efficient by comparison.

The engine spec of truck I took the picture above of is this.
Capacity: 12.58 litres.
Maximum net power: 483hp (360kW) at 2,000rpm, an inline 6 design with a 16 speed gearbox.

Yes, 2 reverse & 14 forward. 9 changes to 28MPH fully freighted if you go through the box! - Why truckers don't like to stop @ junctions & roundabouts if we can avoid it. ;) :)
