Well, my budget has dropped dramatically and my choice of cars has had to change! (again).

My friend use to own an MR2, which I always use to like the look of. I know what I can get with my new budget and this has just come up for sale about 10 minutes from my work place.

Can anyone give me any feedback on this?

how do the engines last on these? 130k seems rather high for a turbo'd car,

that one is only 130k km's

it all depends on how well they're serviced and how much boost they are running. some US turbo's have done over 200k miles on unopened engines.

my current rev3 turbo lost compression on no.3 (probably the ringland, pretty common on no.3) at 83k miles - not sure how well it was treated by the previous owner though.

Seems a good bargain tbh. Just give it a good check for all the usuals and go for a spirited drive checking for blue smoke.

It says 130k kilometers not miles. I doubt this is the case though as when the speedo is changed over to mph, usually, it converts everything else to read in miles so it is probably a mixture of kilometers and miles.

Those alloys really do ming, and they've probably royally screwed up the handling..

But assuming the advert is true, that's a bargain price. If you test drive it, look for blue smoke in the exhaust and you should be able to feel the surge of power when the turbo kicks in.

What he said. I believe a little black smoke is fine though? (Excess fuel not being burnt, and these cars over fuel)

Imminent Turbo Death

to go into more details, i believe the turbocharger has its own supply of oil to keep it lubed and working. If you see blue smoke, it means the turbocharger is failing, and oil is leaking into the turbo, and instead of just blowing air into the engine, the turbo is blowing air and oil in.

when you get oil inside the engine, thats what produces the blue smoke.
