Looking for a new "fun" car and i am thinking about a mk2 mr2 gt or gt t bar. What are the common problems with these cars, what sort of cars are they to drive and how much would i be looking at for a good one?

Cheers

i am looking at the turbo's at the moment. 3k seems to get you one in decent nick. although i say one today for 5k that i fell in love with

If your after an N/A then youll get a nice one for 2.5k, Rev3+ Turbo's hold the premiums. You can get a nice rev2 turbo for 2.5-3k though. Stay away from rev1 though if your new to them. My first mr2 was a rev1, never again. Rev2 - tons better. Never driven a rev3 but can only get better.

my uncle loved his but as previously said thought it was out to get him, due to having like no weight in the front if he was caning it sometimes it didn't enjoy trying to go around a corner... sounds fun :D

It seems as though MR2s are becoming increasingly popular. I love mine, its got the show and its definitely got the go* :)

*unless its wet, and I'm racing a Saxo.

Hopefully the nice ones will stay in the hands of the owners who respect them. The same thing has happened to the Pulsar GTI-R's.
The prices have got so low the chavs can afford the nails and now I see them being thrashed quite often now by baseball capped idiots :(

I think it's more a case of they are getting cheaper and now falling prey to the chav market

Indeed quite a few park at a local Mcdonalds in the evenings. All look like they've had about a years salary thrown at them, and still look about a cheap and crappy as you'll ever see.

They are awful cars, I've seen Oil tankers corner better than them and you can bet your mortgage that anything you buy for about 3k has been absolutely leathered.

A quids worth of pertrol and a lit match will improve them far beyond any chav would achieve.:D:D:D

im still unsure on what you lot call a proper car lol

Hard for me to compare my car to an MR2 as its not in the £3k bracket.
But I class a proper car as one that does'nt have any murderous tendencies towards its driver every time you start it up.

I will concede though that it is probably the fastest car I've owned. As long as it was going in a straight line.

What do you drive now?

Thing is im not limited to 3k more than happy to spend more if anyone can recommend me a nice quick and nice looking car up to 7k or so.
Just so happened i saw an mr2 and thought hmmm.
