Mr2?

They are awful cars, I've seen Oil tankers corner better than them and you can bet your mortgage that anything you buy for about 3k has been absolutely leathered.

So you have owned or at least driven a MK2 MR2 to say that then. Tell us a bit about it, maybe it had some issues? Worn bushes, damaged suspension ? Certainly sounds more like you have just spouted out a load of unbacked up **** tbh.

Sure ill stick up for them, but with reason. I have just sold mine but I would definatly buy another. Also, for info...do some research before stating how much cars are worth. You say for 3k it would be 'leathered' - well the car is a sports car so im sure it will have been driven, but dont for one second suggest it will be a bad example. I bought a rev2 turbo, freshly imported for 2.5k. 50k miles, perfect condition, owned it for 2 years without any problems.

Great cars.

EDIT - Standard MR2 GTS Turbo - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lKvF08Gt8N4

Doesnt win due to the two big boys but certainly doesnt handle badly considering its pitch against the NSX which is ment to be one of the best handling mid rears out there. If an MX5 was added to the race im not sure it would be in the same league.

EDIT EDIT - should learn to read the full topic :) - so you owned one 10 years ago...that would make it pretty new at the time (assuming you had a SW20??). Anyway, like you suggest you "thought you knew how to drive" - perhaps this is the reason you have a bad opinoin on the car. Go out in one now and have a blast, im sure youll have more fun than in a huge TDi.

Oooh dear, have I touched a nerve?

I owned a MK2 GT T-bar which for which I'd part chopped my Uno Turbo in for (which definitely was cack) Had it for about 10 months, if remember correctly its a while ago now.
I bought it as a naive 20 yr old based purely on looks. Never test drove at all. At the time I was doing 40 miles a day to and from work through country lanes and remember 2 things clearly-

1) On the country lanes I feared for my life
2) Id get cramp in just about every muscle in my body if spent more than 10 minutes in the thing.

Anyhow don't it take personally, I wasn't having a go at you, just the car.

Oh and big diesels is where its at my age dude...:D

I did several 300+ mile trips in my MR2 turbo, and a daily 60 mile round commute with a car share partner and never had any complaints about comfort, and thrashing it through the lanes was excellent fun. I always took it fairly steady in the wet though as it didn't inspire much confidence then, but in the dry you had to be quite silly to lose it.
