MSI 7900GTO Mem Clock Speeds in here! (database)

Again Cheers so far but remember:

post your overclocks

card setup (sli or 1 card)

And how it was O/C

Ill start putting the ones so far into an Excel File shortly :)

EDIT: also ONLY your Max safe and Used overclock, I don't know which clock to write down for those of you who have posted twice that have not indicated which clocks you use regularly

Coolbits gives 700 core and 760 memory.

But if I use ATITool I can get 700 core 800 memory and it's perfectly stable.
It will go to a max of 705 core 830 memory with ATITool stable.

I use the Coolbits method though as I just don't need the extra speed for what I do.

Single card.

680 Core / 780 Mem edited bios with nibitor, I put the zalman fatality cooler on and get 49C under load. coolbits gives me back 689 core and 798 men but I sometimes get artifacts in oblivion with those settings. 680/780 seems ok with Oblivion, which seems to be the best I've found for testing overclocks as its very picky  I may push a bit further but I'm gonna see how I get on as is. oh its a single card setup. athlon X2 3800 @ 2700mhz, 2gig corsair 4400 @ 270mhz, bfg mobo.

Oh forgot to say, the fatality cooler did'nt fit out of the box I had to pack up the stand offs where the rubber gromets fit with 3 mobo spacers on each leg (the ones that separate the mobo screws and the mobo) so as not to bend the card or crush the core, I had the same problem with a asus 7900gt + zalman cooler except I had to cut the gromets in half ( V tricky) as the cooler would'nt reach the core. Just a heads up, soz for going off topic thought it might be handy.

Just been upping the memory now...

Now running 720/830, Using Coolbits & Powerstrip. Perfectly stable no problems at all :)

Hey Guys,

I've got an MSI GeForce 7900 GTO.

Core - 715
Memory - 800

Used RiveTuner to overclock. Got the memory to 820 and it ran 3DMark06 for 30 minutes without any stability issues, but clocked it lower to be on the safe side as i want to keep this card until the 2nd revision of the G80.

Temps are 39 degrees C idle, and 59 degrees C under full load.

System; E6600 Core 2 Duo @ 2.99GHz. 2Gb 667 RAM. GeForce 7900 GTO (715/800). 150 GB WD Raptor + 200 GB WD Caviar + 320 GB WD Caviar. Santa Cruz Sound Card.

Hope this helps...

Currently clocked to 714/839 using Powerstrip.
Can't be sure on stability yet though as I've only played FEAR XP so far.

Just ran a couple of 3dm06 tests and didn't notice any artifacts, although my score of ~5250 is somewhat disappointing. Probably due to only having a Venice @ ~2.5ghz I guess.

why does coolbits only go to 800mhz on the memory?

Perhaps because the portion of the driver it unlocks hasn't been modified for a long time (pre DDR3). At the time it was probably thought unlikely that 800mhz DDR would be breached any time soon.

so what we are seeing here is affectivly 7900GTX cards @ silly low prices

seems to me most do 700/800

imo at 180 quid yo cant go wrong

is there any plan to hack/change this

or has it already been done?

It's purely speculation on my part. In terms of 'hacking' it wouldn't be overly straightforward since the coolbits registry changes merely give access to the settings, rather than setting the limits themselves.

Going back to an earlier question, personally I don't bother with the 'autodetect' overclocking. Better off with manual trial-and-error tweaking in my book.
