MSI Afterburner Beta 10-FPS limiter in

These guys are spot on!, I just tried it myself VSYNC + Frame Rate Limiter of 56-59... No input lag , no tearing being that it's vsynced and smooth!

What's up with that?

My current user.cfg

Will have to try this when i get home.

Also, i cant believe you made me faff about with wupload only to find you only have one flaming line of text in that .cfg!!!! (RenderDevice.ForceRenderAheadLimit 1)  :p

Read my first post, it should explain it (post #115 http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=21014812&postcount=115)... sorry it is a bit long, but it is hard to explain concisely.

There is a little more lag caused by VSync, but less than one frame's worth (i.e. the monitor refresh time).

So all you have to do is set the Framlimiter to 59 and turn on VSYNC in game? What about D3DOverider?
I'm not sure about this. It depends on what the framerate limiter does to limit the FPS. You might need to use it to enable TB, you might not. This will need more experimentation to test.

Well, am glad other people think it makes a diff too.

Moley, I think I got the gist of possible reasons why from your description, but most of it went over my head :)

Guess will keep it as is - looks good and feels smooth and responsive :)

didnt MSI release any notes with this new limiter?

Only thing I can see regarding notes, is on the guru3D site:

Changes list includes:

Added AMD Tahiti graphics processors family support
Added core voltage control for reference design AMD RADEON 7970 graphics cards with CHL8228 voltage regulators
MSI On-Screen Display server has been upgraded to version 4.3.0. New version gives you the following improvements:
1. Added new profile settings allowing to limit the framerate independently during gaming and during videocapture. Limiting the framerate during gaming can help to reduce the power consumption as well as it can improve gaming experience due to removing unwanted microstutteing effect caused by framerate fluctuations. Limiting the framerate during videocapture can improve resulting video smoothness
2. Added Vector 3D On-Screen Display rendering mode support for OpenGL applications
3. Added Raster 3D On-Screen Display rendering mode support for multithreaded OpenGL applications (e.g. ID Software's Rage)
4. Added workaround for AMD Direct3D driver issues causing OSD to be invisible in Direct3D8 and Direct3D9 applications when using Raster 3D On-Screen Display rendering mode
Now unofficial overclocking can be enabled without typing in the EULA into the configuration file. In this case the EULA is displayed and you're forced to accept it during MSI Afterburner startup
5. Added power user oriented command line switches allowing to extend Overdrive clock limits on AMD graphics cards attached to Windows desktop

They expire once MSI release the new one. Dont worry u get a warning on ur desktop at startup when it is imminent and can install the latest beta without losing settings.

Played Fifa12 with 12.1a drivers and latest CAP2. Switched on VSYNC and 59fps limit and the game runs so much more smoother. When doing long balls it doesn't stutter nor do I get tearing. Excellent result! Gonna try BF3 later :)

I may drop the frame rate cap to 57 in BF3 as I was getting drops and stutter with vsnyc enabled when it dropped below 59. Never drops below 57 though :D, this is under heavy explosions
