MSI Afterburner Beta 10-FPS limiter in

Just to let you know, I am not using the frame limiter. I am using Overrider only and it locks it to my screens refresh rate with little to no input lag. Try using d3doverrider only.

Are you sure you know what input lag is?

Because it's clearly present when using vsync and d3doverrider doesn't do any "magic" when forcing vsync+triple buffering.

Niel i will say i am wrong on this one. i dont mind admitting it either :p

honestly in bf3 on my high settings usually 55-80 fps but on 60 fps on this so smooth . very pleased. so lap it up :D.

62 set here for bf3, under standard use i averaged 90fps, mainly ultra settings, no msaa. Game ran grand fps wise. 62 limit set, no tearing, smoother play. It's just a pity that bf3 is such a buggy pos. So ill test it with bfbc2 and moh 2010. Two half decent fps games.

whats so special about this? try using vsync. doh.

Because with vsync you get input lag.

With this you don't.

Am currently set on 56 limit. Don't get any tearing, and my settings for BF3 don't seem to dip below this, so it all runs very smoothly.

I seem to be doing much better at aiming with this rather than vsync. Oh, and no noticeable microstutter - though if in BF3 it drops below that, to say 50 FPS, it can feel quite laggy, whereas with skyrim, it can go down to 30 and still feel smooth.

Tried 12.1a preview drivers? They sort ATI lag! Might help!

Id set to 60-65, as your refresh rate should be 60 (if not using 120hz monitor :p). Ive got mine set to 70 and not getting any kind of stutter anymore.

I seem to get tearing to bad tearing and even if i set 56fps I get Ripples that run down the screen, it's why I've never had vsync off with tearing.

Guess i'm stuck with vsync on + TB

Same here even with Framerate capped at 55 or 60 theres still some tearing. So i'm also stuck with vsync on + TB, but also using the FPS limiter still (as it seems to help smooth it out a bit).

I didn't say that it was gone completely, there is still a little input lag with d3doverrider, but it's a lot better than just vsync on it's own.

Surely unless your graphics card refresh rate is locked to the monitor (vsync) you will always get tearing, it's just the closer the two values are the less noticeable it will be. Even if you cap your FPS at 60 and have a monitor with a refresh rate of 60 you'll still get tearing if they are not synced as when the refresh happens halve way down the screen you have 1/2 of two different frames.

Limiting the FPS to 60 and you will still get the same amount of input lag as with v-sync on, it just when you dip below 60 that FPS limiter will have the edge as with V-sync you slip to 30 frames, with FPS limiter you don't

yep I get this with frame limiter set to 60 and using d3doverider to force triple buffering. Have gone back to uncapped FPS with no vsync, bf3 runs fine albeit not "smooth" but its better than having tearing when I strafe.

my point is that the only way not to get tearing is to have vsync on.

The higher fps you have and the less you move the less noticeable it will be, but it will still be there
