MSI Calls Out Gigabyte for "Not True PCIe 3.0"

Cant say anything about MSI boards as did have only 1 in my life :D
But had many Gigabyte, and more than few died in 6 months period (they we cheap P35 mobos,so maybe now Gigabyte making better stuff),aslo already sent for RMA graphics card (in my sig) which failed in 7 months time...Maybe im just unlucky lol

There's already a thread about this.

You didn't look very hard as it's still on the first page.

That thread has been locked by the Mods so I imagine this one will be too.

I don't understand why that other thread was locked.

This is a discussion forum, it's being talked about on every other forum. Don't see threads about Apple suing Samsung over patents getting locked, or other companies calling out companies over things that ain't true.

Gigabyte's fault if it is true though, can't go reigning in places when the customer is talking about it. Best interests and all that I suppose though.

How does this affect Gigabyte owners?

I bought the Gigabyte Z68AP-D3 Intel Z68, would this affect that? How would I actually know?

Probably because it will put people off buying Gigabyte boards and oc wont want to be stuck with a load of boards they cant sell.

Bit disappointed if true but realistically Graphics cards will only really start to take advantage of the additional bandwidth in a couple of years by which time I'll be looking to update to the Haswell platform.

So will I get a full refund from OcUK for my Gigabyte Z68X-UD3H now? (Even though I bought it elsewhere as OcUK have never stocked it). :D

Srsly, I'm not sure what all the fuss is about - for 99.9% of users it makes 0% difference. I bought my mobo because it does what I want it to (and does it well), not because it might do something I may want to do in 2 years time (if I can afford a £500+ graphics card). Admittedly I was chuffed when I read that my mobo was more 'futureproof' than I thought, but I really don't need those features (including Ivybridge support, I'm 110% happy with my 2500K). :)

That said, it is unusually sneaky/deceptive of Gigabyte to make such misleading claims (if proved false...) and I'm surprised they have to resort to such tactics. But at the end of the day, they still make superb boards, which is why I'll probably buy my next mobo from them (and ignore all the hype about Gen4).

rofl the hilarity.

1. The first slow of any P67 board etc will support gen3 PCI-E as its a direct link to CPU.

2. Gigabyte at no point have said that each and every slot supports Gen3, only that the boards support it.

So it looks like MSI have actually had their own pants down in this part because if you dont have IVYbridge you dont have Gen3 PCI-E so whos advertising isnt as clear cut as it could be now?

Hmmm
