I honestly didn't think this would happen but check it out....http://www.tweaktown.com/news/31592...n-you-hear-the-thunder-rolling-in-/index.html

Very very interested in these, stock clocks in excess of 1.1ghz (that's surely ~Titan+ territory?) and we can hope MSI have either taken a hit on warranty to give us voltage control or have again 'accidentally' left a soft mod loop hole like we saw on the 680 and 770 LTG's....

Very excited for this :D

@8pack, can't wait, should be smashing titan records me thinks!! 1.7v is a little much for measly water cooling :p

I suspect we will manage over volting via a 4th party tweak again like we had with the 680 & 770 lightnings.

I did see some advertised too, they are BS. Product code says reference msi 780, besides, msi have only just this week finalised the pcb design...

Dump my plethora of cards on the MM now or wait? Reckon these will be £600+?

Given the usual LTG premium is around £80 more then reference, around £630+ would be my guess, though we all know Gibbo LOVES to put MSI's top cards on special offer all the time :D

:D Sounds very nice if this is case. I can feel my 780 has more to give but needs more voltage. I don't think I will be able to convince the wife that I *Need* a lightning 780..... :o

....Just don't tell her....that will be my plan anyhow.

"Oh these, just replacements, last ones broke blah blah blah" :D

^Is what I'm thinking, its looking less and less likely AMD are going to favour 20nm over a larger 28nm chip.

I didn't think we'd see a Titan killer until later in the year :p

Blocks depend on how well msi have communicated with block partners, 7970 lightning blocks took an absolute age (3months) to surface due to 680 & 670 releases taking priority.

The ocn thread on this card makes some good reading...

Card will come stock with the usual +38mv control, though tools and work arounds are highly expected to give unlimited volts.

Chips are binned for cold perf.

8 Pack has seen one at computex.

First mass production line is currently being tested ready for launch.

Rumoured retail price of £645.99.

Excited :D

They release them for the top line every gen, 770 only got a lightning as the r&d was already done and pcb's ready from the 680.

It also should be faster then a titan ;)

Kingpin managed 1400mhz, on air, with a 780 classified at 1.35v, similar results are expected of the lightning. Once under water without temp targets to worry about and soft mod voltage to say 1.45-1.5v, should be benching in the region of 1500mhz!!

Confirmed that msi are in touch with ek about blocks, which probably means ek have all the pcb vitals to get measured up :D

Hopefully won't have a 5 month wait between card release and block release this time

Always possible, but it depends how close it performs to the 780, nvidia lightnings tend to get far more mods for big volts, amd cards not so much :(

Like with the last lot, I could only pump 1.362v through my 7970 lightning, while gregster could push 1.5v+ on his 680 lightnings. I expect the same this time around tbh.

@tonester, yes it did mate thank you :) I'll update the wanted thread this evening and sort you some trust :)

Or grab a Titan

On a serious note there is little point in getting a card like the 780 lightning to give you Titan like performance when the cost of the card and waterblock sets you back a Titan like price.

Having said that my gut feeling is the 780 lightning will sell for around the 600 pound mark.

Gentlemen start your lightnings.:D

My angle with going 780 LTG + block over a titan is that I'm likely to be able to push the lightning a fair chunk higher on water, many are obtaining 1200mhz on reference 780's on air which surely puts a watercooled 780 with unlocked voltage anywhere in the 1400mhz+ region on water :)

With Classiffieds @ less than £600 for pre-order, I reckon the same for the Lightnings. :)

That is unless they inflate the price when stock actually lands :(

I'd wager we'll see nothing like £600 for the classy in the EU, the yanks have it at $700 + tax, i'd say its going to be closer to £700, you of all people know how much the 680 classy was infalted over here :(

Any confirmation yet on EVBOT connectivity? The stock shots of the ACX classy show the connector while the Hydro Copper classy shows it removed

That is damn fast, 21,000+ GPU score is around 2000 points higher then I managed with a pair of 7970's!!

Do it Kaap, just don't buy them all before I get one or two :p

Things should get really interesting if thats the case, even on air, the new TFV cooler is said to be something special so we may even see some competition with the top Titans on air too.

Let's hope EK has an announcement soon ;)

Looks like we may see blocks quite soon after launch :)

Also means the PCB design is final and should be ready for full production :D

Elmors hwbot score from above is out, 1800mhz core 1900mhz memory, fastest 780 & 5th fastest gpu in 3d11, impressive considering the 4 titans above it all had to use daughter boards and a fair bit of soldering to get that high, while the 780 was done purely on software alone.
