MSI GTX970 BIOS update released....

Hmm, thanks for the info but I'd rather do it the "proper" way, plus not sure how I get hold of the BIOSes anyway when I can't even register on their site.

Might try sticking the card in another machine temporarily and see if I have any more joy with that.

There is no proper way to flash a GPU bios,using NVflash or msi software.Its the exact same method.

If anything i would consider using Live update to flash a bios more risky than Nvflash

Either way the links are there if you decide to flash it yourself as MSI software is giving you problems :)
 
Cheers, might give that a try.

Seems people are saying to disable the graphics card in device manager first. Also the readme included with the file in that link says to install 344.48 drivers - I presume it doesn't specifically have to be that driver that's installed?
 
Yep that all worked fine, cheers for the info :)

Now I just need to work out what the consensus is on the best driver version these days - still on 344.16!
