I have a G271 and just RMA'd it for horizontal lines when cold at 120Hz at the bottom of the screen.
Was first happening at 144Hz and then eventually just gave me a black bar at the bottom of the screen. Reducing the Hz to 60, the screen is fine.

Upon researching the problem it seems a few of the MSI models all have the same issue - why don't MSI recall these ?!

Our engineers have inspected your unit and found it to have an irreparable fault.
Unfortunately, MSI have advised they have no suitable stock to issue a replacement.
They require you to speak to the retailer you purchased the unit from to enquire as to whether they need the faulty unit back in order to issue a refund and then let us know what they have advised so we can inform MSI.

Kind regards,

how can they throw this back to the retailer when it is a manufacturing fault and warranty ?

retailer states nothing to do with them, they only provide 1 year warranty. the 3 year warranty is with MSI...

now what
Most warranties state "equal or better replacement item if exact item not available". Might be worth reading through the warranty itself to see exactly what it says. A lot of companies try to use the "return to retailer" spiel as the contract of sale is with them but manufacturers warranty kicks in when sellers warranty expires (if not equal or greater). Telling them that retailer only offers 12 months warranty can get them to accept the RMA directly, but they may ask you to return it to the retailer for them to send it back to the place where they purchased it from, if not direct even though outside of retailers warranty/return period (adding extra cogs into the system & passing the blame between each other usually just increases wait times & frustration).
