MSI NX8800GT Official Review from Tweaktown

That dodgy chinese website which reviewed the card said the HR-03 for 8800 cards definitely doesn't fit.

From memory they measured the mounting holes and said it was the same mount as a 7800 and different to the 8800 cards.

So in theory you need to be looking for a 7800 after market compatible cooler.

VF-900 may fit then :D

So what exacly is the score with running one of these cards for example i have a Gigabyte GA_P35_DS3R i am guessing this don't support the pci-e the new cards requires ?

OH fantastic news looks like Mr CC is coming out, then ill flog my 2900 pro thats flashed to xt to a m8 not happy with the performance of this card at all.

I'll wait until a quiet one turns up or maybe for reliable RV670 benchmarks to come out. No rush. Have plenty of coursework and Rome: Total War to finish off (which isn't such a struggle for the current card).

Noticed that the two benchmarks using DDR3 in the motherboard seem to give higher results ?.

.

Those results seem a bit...fishy, I believe it got the fps it did, but the other 3 cards look consistently low. I mean doubling the GTS several times, and always winning by at least 35%?

well, either way monday we should know for sure. should be interesting as yes, it does seem slightly too good to be true, but even if theyre exaggerated, its still probably a lot better

Wanna see what benchmarks it can get with HL2E2 and UT3 demo, that would be useful.

great review tho, shame it runs so hot and loud, but wont matter with my watercooling.

Remember, for the most part its just a die shrink. Slightly higher clocks, and 16more shader units, thats it.

Any aftermarket cooler out for sale that can fit this card now? I want to order one on monday when I order the 8800GT!!!

Same here :D.

I am actually very worried now I wont get in quick enough to order one!, these are going to sell out in the first hour :(

Jesus, from that review its crapping all over the 2900 XT, and its even spanking the GTS, anywhere from 20 to 40fps faster, man i cant wait for the newer GTS now.

Runs hotter and louder than a 2900XT even with a die shrink. Cyber Mav won't be happy :p

Oh deary deary me

I play games with loud music or with headphones, and with performance like that, is it such an issue really? really would it stop you form buying one if you were going to?
