" Taiwan-based Micro-Star International sees no eVIL and knows no overkill (apparently) as, in addition to the five GeForce 9600 GT models already released it is preparing two more, one of which has no less than 2 GB of onboard memory.

The upcoming card features Qimonda memory chips and has a design similar to that of the N9600GT-T2D1G-OC meaning a red PCB and a dual-slot cooler. In addition to the extra memory the card also comes with a DisplayPort connector, something that we'll be seeing more of in the future as the format is embraced by monitor manufacturers.

The 2GB-equipped card is probably set to stock clocks (650/1625/1800 MHz GPU/Shaders/memory) and will become available soon enough. "

Tell me one thing....

WHAT IS THE POINT? Does the 8800GT take advantage of 1gb? NOPE, how will this take advantage of 2gb?

They admitted it was purely a marketing decision since there's actually mugs out there who buy 1Gb+ cards on a crippled bus :D

1GB may be needed on next real new gen GTX/Ultra but not on above and no way is 2GB needed, its not even Nvidia REC of Samsung Modules so that keeps cost to Manu down.

Just thought I would post, I personally think its a waste.

Was it not an element that is needed to make Memory thats going short (was on web last year) but they have a more abundant replacement but it aint as easy to use yet ????????????.

I dunno guys, the more "MEGA SUPER LOLZ" memory on the market the cheaper it becomes.

You'd think ATI would build off of the 512-bit bus off of the 2900 with this stuff on a 3800 based gpu with silly amounts of shaders, would beat everything? Or am I just dreaming here?

I would have thought it was Iron?

saying that, would it not be what salt water is made out of?
