MSI wont RMA new graphics card

result MSI will accept a direct return...! After i told them the original setting not longer existed

the catch... the service centre is in Poland! We have to pay for shipping both ways, and its £70 to send it there (using the courier they suggest)...

Surely they would reimburse postage if it's found to be faulty?

So £140 shipping both ways, what card is it?
If it is around RX 6600 maybe just put the £140 into getting a new card and sell the faulty one.

I've only just seen this, did he get this sorted out in the end? I would be interested to know.

Also for courier, worth checking comparison websites like Parcel Monkey, Parcel2Go etc. There's probally more.

MSI are a lottery with their RMA process. I sent a 2070 to Poland only for them to not even test the card properly and return it “fixed” although it had the exact same issue (artefacts under load). Infuriating experience when postage costs that much and enough to mean I’ll never buy a single product of theirs again.

Similar stories of their RMA process are all over the internet.

was this sold as brand new or 2nd hand?
do you have a link to the dodgy website? (note not wanting anyone to break occuk rules..... is posting a link to possible scammer site to warn them away considered linking to a rival?)

If you don't have anything positive to say about a competitor, then I don't think it's against the rules, and actually it serves as a warning to others on here not to use them.

E.g. I have posted about the Purple Shirts on here a couple of times and my posts stayed up because my experience wasn't positive. It was a house insurance job in the form of a gift voucher to that retailer, so I had no choice. I picked the laptop, then instead of checking me out, the guy took me to a side room and spent half an hour trying to up-sell numerous other products that I wasn't interested in e.g. MS Office, anti-virus, cloud storage, 4G data (it was 2015), 3-year warranty, accidental damage cover and other bits and bobs. Ok the extra warranty and damage cover was fair enough, but everything else was taking the **** and I told him a few times that I have worked in tech support, but he was deaf to that, even though I'm the one that wear hearing aids! Half an hour of his time wasted and same goes to me.

A friend purchased a new PC from some internet cowboy outfit, the video card failed after 2 months,

They say ha ha go away (not purchased on a credit card)

I told him no issues we will return to MSI, MSI say ha ha go away its the sellers issue we don't care, i explained the seller will not help, they still say return to the seller, i explained the selling will not help again, they keep just sending back stock very long emails saying return to the seller.

I thought I could just return straight to the manufacturer?
Seller should accept it. How long did they give warranty? I don't think you will get a free replacement if it died by your mistake.

a little more digging (my friend is a bit special) he was contacting the market place not the seller, i got the sellers details and they went into administration last year! (just after he got the machine).. I asked MSI is they might consider a direct return taking that into consideration ...

I see market place mentioned, so I presume it's most likely Amazon.

As others have asked how did you get on sending it back to MSI?

POSTING ANY LINKS TO A PRODUCT THAT WE SELL IS AGAINST OUR RULES

SO DO NOT LINK TO GRAPHICS CARDS UNLESS ITS TO THE OCUK SHOP

i just went to the credit card, no hassle money back.
Never again MSI, they scratched my new laptop, they told me it arrived like that etc..
I was very lucky I took pictures of the laptop in the shop and got them to write no damage or visible scratches.

Yeah if it's Amazon you've gotta be sorted, market or not you just need to speak to them properly.
I've never seen a retailer just eat lies and ship out new products to cover claims...
I buy nearly everything distance from Amazon now, yes it's sad, but their consumer protection is ridiculously good.

Hope it gets sorted one way or another.

All this said, I doubt I'd ever buy a pc from Amazon :p

Is there any reason why you're not answering the other questions people have thrown in to help? Like did he use a visa debit card? Because if the company has gone out of business I'd perhaps look at trying that approach rather than spending £70 each way.

it was something like 70 to send it back using the courier they said we should use, since it was not a 100% guarantee of getting it fixed when it was sent back i decided it was not worth the cost / risk.. Told him to sell it as faulty on the bay
