MSN Live Invites

Hey thanks, basically i just installed it, and it had none of my contacts in the list, just a box said i could add them as if it was a new account. Ive gone back to msn 7.5 and contacts are all still there. Ill reinstall it in a bit and see if it was just a one off thing.

Well for those who wonder what’s new and exciting about MSN 8.0…?

I’ll summarise the ‘Welcome to Messenger’ tour that there is under the help drop down menu.

The new features that they have added to the all popular msn are…;

A) Instantly share and update files with your friends via new Sharing Folders

B) FREE PC-to-PC calls to 180 million MSN Messenger contacts worldwide (I’m thinking a Skype based feature)

For more details visit the link here.

But it’s nice to no you don’t need to worry as “…your contact list and other personal stuff you already have stored in Messenger will come with you to this version.” Thought I’d add that quote as it seems to not work out for everyone.

System requirements go as follows;

XP
Pentium 233MHz min (50MHz) recommended.
128MB RAM min (256MB recommended)
15MB HHD to run, up to 50MB to install.
Have to have IE 6 SP1 or later on computer.
800x600 display or above.

Thats the error i get, i guess its my uni connection proxy rather than a specific program fault :(, no problems with previous msn verisons though.

If you see an empty contact list after upgrading to Windows Live
>Messenger, follow the steps below:

>Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Messenger\ and hit Enter
>3. This will open a new Windows Explorer window
>4. In the window that opens double click on your Messenger ID.
>5. Double click on the Contacts folder.
>6. Delete the two folders you see inside the Contacts folder.

There was a way to invite yourself to the Live! beta if I remember.

It invloved changing your profile to say you were from the USA, then following a link on the net and if you did it right you would be invited.

Apparently Microsoft knew about this a few weeks ago, and they chose not to block it.. I guess they don't mind an extra few people testing it out ;)

Ok seems I was a luckyone and got an invite from someone from another forum :P

the problem is when I click the download link after you sign in on their website {first ever time, the orange download box) nothing seems to happen?

Any ideas why the download link is not coming up?

Or if any other sites will let me download it?

Edit:

Never mind I found the download link at the microsoft site :D
