MTM Watches (Opinions Needed...)

I would go with the PVD , it will have a more substantial feel and be harder wearing than the titanium one

I was also considering another one that has an automatic movement, what are your thoughts on automatic vs quartz movements?

And finally, I'd prefer to be able to adjust the watch myself (i.e. take links out/add them in), which tools would I need/where's the best place to get them from?

from a watch fans point of view an automatic would be vastly preferable to a quartz though it will be less accurate and need winding if left unworn for more than a couple of days

Thanks for the info. How less accurate would it be?

As far as I understand a bog standard quartz movement is around +- 20 secs/month.

And I usually wear my watch every day. I have an eco-drive based watch atm, and am surprised that it's never needed a proper charge (left in the sun etc) in the 5/6 years I've had it.

Any opinions on alternatives to the trasers? Something plain-ish, black/titanium and automatic/don't need to replace batteries every couple of years? (Up to £400)

I quartz watch will normally be less than 1 second a month , a good auto watch 10 seconds a day or less

Rotty, the watch that I've ordered . . What are your thoughts on it and how easily does Titanium wear?

Seikos are as good as anything else at the price

re Titanium, it scratches easily but does have the ability to "self repair" over time as it is slightly fluid , if you get a glass fibre brush you can re apply the brushed finish which will remove scratches

:eek::mad:

the brushes are usually from electronics places

better still are styrofoam blocks used by nail/beauty places, I got the missus to cadge some last time she went, they are foam blocks used for fine sanding down

brushed finishes are nothing more than scratches, these can be reapplied

just charging my camera batteries and then I will show you :)

here we see one Omega Planet Ocean with a scratched brushed finish clasp

I really like the watch in the op, if i had money to spend on a watch that cost more than the £2.50 my current one* did I'd get it.

*its actually quite a decent watch, survived many drunken bashing's, without much damge

Was window shopping with the other half and she started hinting at engagement rings - my repsonse was "if I buy you a ring I want a watch" (a bit mercenary in know) she says OK which one. I point at a TAG Kirium F1 (i think) and she says ok:eek:

Now, up until that point I hadn't given watches a second thought. I liked the look of the Tag jobby - which is the only reason I pointed at it. Now I want a new watch and it's clear from these threads that there's too much choice!
