Hi All,

Looking to Upgrade my PC as it is starting to slow down and fail on some games, what I have so far is:

Intel Core i5-3570k CPU
16 GB Ram
Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 Ti
SuperFlower FX 650W '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply
Gigabyte G1 Sniper M3 motherboard

On windows 10 64bit

Want to be able to play games on a higher gfx setting and probably have it just generally run nicer, unfortunately I will likely need more fans too as my PC gets damn hot as it is, it only has the Shinobi BitFenix case fans at the moment, I am very tempted by the silent! fan/watercooled system but not sure if it will fit in my case.

Thanks for any and all help!

1920x1080 monitor, it's a BenQ monitor and yes I'm using stock intel heatsink.

Not overclocked my CPU.

Happy to spend around £500-600 on parts to make it a happier PC.

Oh! Good to know that I should just buy a new case xD Any hints on CPU cooling would be great.

Glad to know that my GPU is definitely the highest issue :D

I would prefer to be Nvidia though, just because I feel that AMD's drivers are a pain to find and sort, from personal experience.

Actually, it is the opposite, Nvidia has more problems with its drivers and are hard to find.

Nvidia has GeForce experience, that is your direct updater, never any issues with finding new drivers with Nvidia, however, my partner who has an AMD can never update his drivers as it takes ages searching google to actually download them and then find a trusted website, no support system like the GeForce Experience, no program to update it properly. IMO.

Gtx 1060 , new case as suggested and solid cpu cooler to overclock that bad boy :)

Always loved the BitFenix cases so a bit out of depth when it comes to choosing a new case xD will have to have a nose at some :D

I don't know about your case. Are you using a very old graphics card?

It's 2 years old now.

New AMD drivers are much improved

Good to know they are doing better again. -May- try them then... Although I am worried about doing so because of the driver issues I have previously experienced, if however, as you both have said, they are much improved they might be worth it.

Thank you both! I shall try and get that sorted for my other half's PC and not judge AMD so harshly :D Thank you for making me aware that they have improved!

Personal fav is Jonsbo , produce their own designs and case like In Win and Lian Li, then you have others that design it but don't make it like bequiet, then you get Corsair with the running joke they'll slap their badge an anything :D

Oooh I like the be quiet one, have to purchase an upgrade for the other half too as his is another Bitfenix :D

I can see why you like the Jonsbo ones, they are pretty! I think I need to have a moment of PC love again as I fell out of love with my current one and it's just sort of gone "meh"

Will it need more fans do you think? as my shinobi fans are crap xD

Awesome thank you :D

Right so shopping list so far, is:
  • be quiet! Straight Power 10 - 600W
  • be quiet! SilentWings® 3 140mm (a couple)
  • be quiet! Dark Base 700 midi-tower
  • be quiet! Silent Loop Superior Liquid CPU cooler - 240mm
Then I just need to get the GFX card, may go for a GTX 1070, but not sure which one (so many different versions >.<) and I think, everything else is ok... I think!

Since he's practically upgrading almost everything, why doesn't the OP get a new CPU and mobo as well. He could sell his current lot and go a Ryzen or something. :)

She ;)

And I could... but I wouldn't know what motherboard to get if I was to get a new one or where to sell my old things.

Don't get that PSU, there are better options for much less money.

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £85.49 (includes shipping: £10.50)

Can use the savings for a better GPU, such as GTX 1070ti.

Thank you :) I wanted that one because of the make and fan similarities with other fans but if this one is better, I'll look at that one too :)

Just find second hand i7 K for your board :)
GPU will give you the most bang for your buck but i7 will last a little longer

Oh that might be easier XD and won't have to change too much of my love for green!

Have thermal paste lurking already :) thanks though! I think everything else is good and I agree with Tamzzy xD the branding inverted would freak me out xD

Yeah... sending the ryzen back. You are the only person who spotted that and I have never not used intel so didn’t know they don’t mix haha.

But got issues... pc will either turn on and stay on bios splash screen or not power on at all. Any ideas what could be wrong?

Only new things are the case, PSU and water unit ?
Both PCs or just one ?

Was every component taking out when moving or did you transfer board over with CPU and ram still installed ?

8 pin CPU plugged in ?

Case, psu, water unit and gfx card
Only managed to do my pc.
Everything was taken apart then moved except ram.
Can only find 4 pins for my cpu.

Bios reset hasn’t worked, nor has restarting the whole process, by removing everything and starting again.
