Multi-use PC

More waiting... :(

It would be nice if all the parts I wanted went on offer :P
I would definetley need to buy some form of GPU, even if was only a 6450.

With free P&P you can buy everything on offer. Start by buying the case and PSU. Then the holy trinity (mobo,RAM,CPU). That's a skeleton build already and the rig will POST. Then you need a HDD,GPU etc but ideally you are buying better stuff on offer as and when it comes up.....this weeks offers are good for the CPU,RAM and mobo for instance, the Z9 case has gone up from last week ;)

Any GPU lower than the 6850 for gaming you will be disappointed with if I'm honest. If you do the build over a number of weeks you might just find the new nvidia midrange cards get released.......see waiting can be good ;)

Doyll I know I can pay it back since I have a small part time job currently and have to pay no fees since I am under 18 and do not own my own house. Worst comes to worst I will pay it back christmas latest, its about £250 I would need.

And if you loose your job?
You do whatever you want to do. But don't fool yourself. Money you have is real.. you have it. Money you plan on having next week or next month or next X-mass is not. Yes, you will probably get it, but it's not a 100% sure thing. For example what if your mother had a heart attack and couldn't work?... or your house burns down?... or you die in a car accident? I know, not likely to happen but things could happen and you could end up having bills you won't have the money to pay.

If I loose my job I look for another one, the profession I am into right now is quite busy where I live.

If my house burns down then we have insurance to cover everything.
If my mum had a heart attack then I have my dad and the rest of my family.
How would dying in a car accident end up with me having more bills?

You are young and invincible grasshopper. As you get older you will come to know these things. :D

you will get what you will get and if that puts you in debt... actually your parents in debt... so be it. Live long and prosper. :)

I think Doyll is going to extremes to be honest. I know what he is saying but the argument he is using to "scare" you out of finance is the same argument you could use to sell payment protection insurance (PPI) lol

At the end of the day finance will cost you more. After all your repayments they will have made X amount out of "you", not that YOU can even do it so there is no argument to say it will improve your credit rating. If you do the build in steps like I said you probably will end up spending that X amount more but that money will be for better kit not to line a companies pockets ;)

Free P&P terms and conditions

From my experience the delivery is next day and for a while we have been getting a free lil bag of haribo :) Once you qualify for free P&P.....try it! Get something small like blank DVDs or a mousemat etc (i.e something you will use). I get my dvds from here, £10 cheaper than me walking up the road and buying them at a retailers and they are posted though the door the next day after I order....this and the haribo is making me fat lol

If you have cash coming in weekly or monthly and have surplus cash to spare on a regular basis you will be tempted to buy upgrades later.....I was young once too ;) You've been active on the forum, it would be great if you did a build log. Take lots of pics and show how it all comes together so other people can see what's possible :)

I bet my sis steals the haribo lol. Good point on ordering from here with the P&P though, defintley worth looking into, could order something dirt cheap just to see if I can get the haribos :D

I will definetley log the build for myself as future reference as much to post it here. I just hope my cat doesnt do what its done to my hi-fi, xbox and laptop... Chew through the power cables... :(

Quick question, embarrassingly its my mother who wants the answer.
Will overclocking massively increase performance and make the pc last longer?

Ok cheers for that, so it won't increase the time before i have to upgrade if i bought an un overclockable version.

I have only ever upgraded PCs because newer ones are faster. In that sense, an overclocked processor will be usable for longer.

i5/i7 tend to easily get 15-20% extra performance. It is performance you have NOW and is very little cost adder over non-overclockable parts (although you need a reasonable motherboard and cooler to be able to overclock). Whether 15-20% performance is enough to stop you upgrading when something better comes out is another question.

The Z77 Gigabyte boards have a better BIOS than the Z68s, they also have a better power delivery system if I remember correctly. Since the price difference between the two is only a fiver it would make sense to go with the newer tech.
